CSL Header Installed
Finally got the headers in. Thanks to all the info available through searching on this site, I didn't have to ask for much help! Spent 2 nights after work, and it's not a bad car to work on at all. BMW doesn't give you any extra room, but they give you enough.
Gotta give bills webspace some more credit for the great job he did documenting his MC upgrades. 100 miles in, no CEL yet, fingers crossed. I undid the wiring harness and went that route for the o2 sensors, I didn't want to cut and splice the wires. All else was by the "book", and worked out well. It's nice to have a tig welder at home! Thanks again to the forum for the info provided, and the HP/TQ results are noticeable. But certainly not too much louder! It will pop once or twice when coming off a hard pull, and that is quite gratifying. I am thinking supercharger in about a year... Turbo would be awesome, but SC is better for street duty IMO. |

No, I didn't make any videos. I think a lot of people have done this already, it's nothing special IMO...
And how the hell can the stock headers be better for an SC? I'd have to call BS on that. They flow better than the US headers, so.... |

I was thinking any a/v to hear what your new setup sounds like. not a video of the actual installation.

Agree - I know someone that blew his motor (sc'd s54 ) because he was running stock headers. AA had warned him that he should be running csl or AA headers if the car was going to see track time. |

When blown, Euro headers WITH cats are better than headers with straight pipe because the overlap in the cams allows for too much oxygen to escape into the headers (with straight pipe). The cats give a bit of added back pressure to minimize the escape of unspent gasses due to the overlap with boost.

Yeah, just have to be careful with wording. Euro headers eliminate one set of cats, but keeping the stock section one keeps your second set of cats.
For ESS stage 2, VT2-500, catless(euro) headers are required to make the advertised power
