Stretched?
Hey all just wanting to see if anyone can help... What does stretched tire mean? Can you show a picture of stretched vs non stretched? Also if I want my rear tires/rims to slightly poke out and I want a 10 inch wide tire does that mean I want a stretched tire as well? I want a very aggressive rear fitment..thanks for the help.

It means fitting a narrow tire (within its specs, of course) on a wider wheel. You'll want stretched for what you desire. Not my taste, personally.

It's a stupid trend I think, just because there is no way you can ever push your car to the limits. You'll throw the bead off the wheel or it will roll over on it's sidewall |

Yes, it is a stupid trend started in Europe (really big with the VW guys). It is a really good way to degrade the performance, handling and safety of the car (most shops will refuse to install/stretch tires). Plus how fcuking stupid it looks.

Stretched tire
Coming from a VW crowed originally I grew up with old school VW's with stretched tires and to me a little is good for the look you want, the above picture is way to much for my taste but it gives you the idea.

Ahh makes all the sense in the world now.. Yeah think i'll pass, but what about if I want a 10inch tire in the back and I want I to poke out a little bit, what would you recommend for that? I'm assuming that would have something to do with offsets and spacers?
Thanks,

The Width of the tires are slightly different from manufacturer to manufacturer. I was able to fit Michellin PS2 295/35/18 (in the rears) with BBS RS-GT without problem and modification. The tires are sticking out a little bit over the fenders (i will try to get some pictures. I believe the 18" RS-GT 9.5" with 22mm Offset.

to get the right amount of poke for a 10" wide wheel would be dependent upon your offsets and/or spacers if you choose to add those. the amount of stretch is dependent upon a few things but mainly its your ride height. usually when you lower a car you increase your risk of damaging the fender when you "poke" the wheels and NOT stretch the tire. you'd want to stretch your tire enough so that it clears your fender during the wheels vertical movements. |
