Just Moved Up - Newbee

I just moved up from an 01 330 CI that I heavily modded over the years. Found this little jem 07 M coupe, 8200 miles

Couple of easy questions, I am sure these are probably answered in multiple locations but rather than spending hours looking I was hoping someone could help me out! - here goes:

1) I was used to my left mirror dropping down in reverse - the M coupe isn't doing that even though it has the memory seats - why and can it be modded to?

2) Supposedly it has all the options available: how can I tell if it has the upgraded THX speakers? Dosen't say anywhere only indication is that it has an EQ option with demo and jazz?

3) Been trying to pair my Droid X but no pairing settings come up when I following the instructions - put the key in position 1 hold the R/T button for 3 seconds... I got the bluetooth card with the car - is it possible the module was not installed? How can I confirm?

4) I jumped right in without checking for known issues on the car. My old friends at E46Fanatics posed this question: how is about infamous VANOS problem on S54 engines does it still exist for 2007 models? m3forum is full of horror stories about that VANOS tab problem....

Non-USA cars have mirror flip up option but not curb tilt.
It's not easy, but the flip-up mod has been done

IIRC bluetooth is standard, the module is on the bulkhead behind the driver seat in the trunk.

We have had some early cars with Vanos bolt problems, but AFAIK we have the newer hardened tabs

Congrats on your new ride!!! Let me try to answer some of the questions

1) the mirror will not drop down in reverse
2) if you have memory seats, that means you will have the THX speakers as they are part of the Prem. Pkg.

The E85/E86 cars unfortunately do not have this feature. I know, I miss it too.

If you have the Jazz and other EQ options you have the THX speakers. You'll find the stereo is OK for a BMW system (we all know BMW has always had weak stereos)

I hear you on this. Keep playing with it -- it WILL work! I am not even sure if you have to hold the R/T button (is that what the instructions said?)

Good question, I have a '06 so I'm curious about this too. I'm happy that we at least have a lot of the fixes/parts already installed since we have late generation S54s.

As for the mirror tilt, someone else posted this idea and I wish i could give credit: the mirrors are part of the memory seat settings right? The suggestion was to just have the 2nd memory seat be the same as the first one with the mirror tilted down. Then when you need to park, just hit the memory 2 button. Not quite as nice as it being automatic, but not a bad solution.

No mirror drop OEM, Don't know about a retrofit

if you have premium package; you have THX speakers

Do it this way. Enable Bluetooth on your phone and then go to "Search for Bluetooth Devices" While the car is running, or past key 2 (I Did mine while running). You will locate the BMW bluetooth, then connect through the phone by entering the PIN provided.

This doesn't follow the instructions at all, but it worked for my Droid X and Droid X2
