Omfg. Transport mode is the death of me

It's like these guys never heard of it. At the dealer who reset it for me last year. I had to explain that the battery died. The ac, defroster and othe stuff doesn't work

They were extremely confused

The dealer can't figure out how to reset the computer and get me out of transport mode.

They gave me the car back after 5 hours still in transport mode. Took the 6th hours for another tech to figure it out..

def not a new thing around here and I do believe you have to go to the dealer to reset it. IDK what is involved but the dealer should know. Seems like you got one of the crappy dealers

Yeah its when the battery drop below 12v, it shuts off AC and a few component to prevent damage. It sucks because the ATF leaked out of my car 4 weeks ago, bad mechtronic sleeve and pan. They fix the mechtronic but not the pan, and I didn't want to drive it so finally got a time to towed..

Funny thing is they reset it once before, but today was like, whats transport mode... probably a new guy

Is this only on the newer z4's? I stored my 03 for the winter without a battery even in the car. Put it back in when spring rolled around and everything works fine. What things don't work? Maybe I just have not realized the things that are not working.

This happened to me when I bought my car, and I didn't find out about it until I tried turning on the A/C a couple days later. I brought it to the dealer and they were able to identify that the car was in transport mode and they took care of it for free. I hope it gets taken care of for you.

Any BMW dealer knows about transport mode. Every single brand new car that rolls in from the factory is in transport mode, and that's why every single one is PDId before it is delivered to a customer.
Is this dealer you are talking about not a BMW dealer ?

BMW Dealer, not the greatest one.. just the closest one..

They know what transport mode is, they reset it once in december.. seems that all the old SA is not around anymore..

Well, after hearing all this... them not knowing what transport mode, or how to reset it would make me drive further for ANY service!

I would put myself in "transport mode" and transport myself to a dealer who has a clue. You diagnose your own car and it still takes 5 hours? They should pay you.

Interesting. I had my V1 plugged in for a week by accident and it nearly completely drained my battery and I didn't have any issues after a overnight recharge. :

My V1 is always plugged in. That shouldn't matter unless you are using the 12v plug and the plug is active even when the car is not running (Don't know if it is or not)

I was in NY visiting my sister, so I was at Bayside BMW.

I actually have a tomtom iphone dock plug into the 12v, it doesn't seem to drain but I do unplug it when I'm not driving it for more than 2 days
