Steering wheel Roundel Emblem
Hey,
I ordered a Carbon Fiber roundel. It just came in. The roundel I received is a whole piece with 3m tape on the back. Should I just stick it over it? My current one is faded all over. I was looking around the forums. I seem to be getting different information. Some say it's easy to remove the roundel from the airbag, some say it's not removable and is attached to the airbag. Any ideas? anyone done this? thanks in advance!

The one I had on my old car was aluminum backed peal & stick.
It was very low profile & just stuck on top of the OE roundel. When done, you couldn't tell the difference.

Is there anyone who sells a replica of the OEM one?
I asked my parts guy and he said the emblem isn't available separate from the airbag, and I just want a stock color and look,

Yup, if it's anything like the E46 of those years, they are permanently attached on, and you just put the CF one over it. It won't affect the way the airbag deploys (although I hope you never have to experience that) so you'll be good in the event of an accident.

In an event of an accident, I don't think you would want an additional flying projectile thrown in your direction (in addition to your air bag) if you're just attaching/taping it over your current emblem. If you can't replace the emblem, your best bet is to either leave it alone or use the sticker type.

Yes.
It has a metal backing that sticks onto the stock one. I got it as part of a set

I actually did the same - stuck the CF one on top of the existing one.
Now... this was after I actually tried to detatch the stock roundel but I saw that it had these tabs that kept it attached. I freaked out a bit that I may damage the airbag doing this so I decided to leave it and just stick the CF one on top. Edit: so I just saw this photo: http://www.zpost.com/forums/showpost...8&postcount=31 Looks like the airbag is protected from the tabs that attach the roundel
