Help finding front passenger airbag sensor Z4 M
Hello all,
I'm hoping someone can help me locate an airbag sensor. I'm getting code 93c9 and INPA is saying that it can't communicate with the sensor. From the code and the drawings online it seems like I need to replace the front passenger sensor, but I can't find it. I have the front bumper off and have looked under the headlights . Thank you! |

Found it under the plate that covers the radiator, behind the passenger headlight. You can see the bottom of the mounting bolts in that plate without removing any parts. Funny how something becomes obvious only after you see it for the first time.
Can these be tested by checking for resistance across the two connector pins? |

Well the plot deepens.
Finally got a replacement sensor and still have code 93c9. Resistance test doesn't seem valid for these sensors unless the one I received is also bad. INPA reports this as a communication error. Now I'm thinking this could be a wiring harness issue. Do any forum members know what the voltage value should be at the connector? |

Checked the good sensor on the driver's side and found about 4v at the impact sensor connector. 0v on the passenger side connector where I'm having the problem. I'm really not wanting to dive into the wiring harness! I've verified continuity from the connector head to the first wire junction.
Is there a fuse that could kill voltage to the front passenger impact sensor? Or is it possible that a prior owner messed up some coding to the airbag module? Only reason coding comes to mind is my car has some weird behaviors like locking the doors after removing the key from ignition, rather than unlocking. |
