2006 Z4 Roll Bar
I have seen somewhere that a person took off the grey plastic roll bar covering and the actual roll bar was black. Has anyone done the same thing? My opinon it is a better look the the cheap plastic.

I guess that’s totally up to you but bear in mind that you may break the tabs on the roll bar covers when you remove them. So reinstalling them may not be possible, or the covers won’t fit back tightly and squeak free.
You can see them at 18 minutes into this video: https://www.dailymotion.com/video/x490y36 |

I took mine off a 2008 Stratos metallic car and they were painted body color underneath. There are the grey outer covers that need to be removed and then another set of black covers under those. Yes, the clips will most likely break, but new outer covers are still available.
I now own a 2006 black Z4 and will be painting the outer covers a satin black to match the soft top side trim pieces from Skyer Motorsports in the UK as well as the rest of the car's black features. |
