Whether or not a motor was ever supercharged would be very important to me, especially on S54 or S65 cars.

I mean, in addition to having a supercharged engine, brake kit, etc. it was very clearly used as a track car under previous ownership. That is absolutely something to make a potential buyer aware of. Mileage is only part of the story.

I would never let the fact that a BMW Z4 M Coupe has been tracked stop me from buying it.
I’ve tracked my Z4 M Coupe regularly for 19+ years and I can guarantee that it looks, runs, and operates better than 99% of all cars, old or new, on the road today. My maintenance on the car is above and beyond what the most treasured garage queen gets, because if I don’t refresh all the potential consumables and keep the fluids fresh, having a bushing blow out or a radiator hose let go or pad failure at 140mph on track is catastrophic. Most owners that have these more “rare” BMWs that track them keeps extensive maintenance records and keeps their cars tip top shape. And frankly to own a Z4 M Coupe and never track it is a SHAME. This is by far the most fun track car fresh out of the factory box BMW has ever built. Naturally aspirated engine that revs to 8,000, close ratio 6 speed manual only with a LSD, super stiff and light-ish chassis, short wheel base…It is meant to be driven and driven on track. I would almost say that my 19 year old Z4 M Coupe is in such a good shape because it IS driven on the track extensively. |

This is more about optics. No one's said you didn't take care of the car. Leaving out key information of its past looks like you're hiding something. Why not remove any doubt and just state the obvious? Had anyone run the VIN in google they would have found out its history.

Just my opinion.
I would actually raise the price of the car, not lower it for listing. The market for this car is very NICHE. You're unlikely to get people who are kicking tires and looking for a deal when buying an MZ4 Coupe. Price isn't going to be the determining factor as to why someone would buy it, it's time and patience because it takes the right buyer. I know. I get it. Everyone has different reasons for selling their MZ4 Coupe. You may have reasons to want it to move and move fast. Just personal experience thought, I guarantee I can get $40K plus for my car if I were to list it today, but that's only because I already know a bunch of guys that will offer that and more should I ever choose to sell it. And they all know I tracked this car extensively. This place is a poor place to list it if you ask me, since a lot of the people here already own a Z4 (and have quite a few existing Z4 M Coupe owners), percentage wise it's less likely that someone with the means and the wants to buy the MZ4 Coupe will be here. Maybe I'm wrong. I would go to local BMW CCA chapters, local car shows, and reach out to local car enthusiasts and/or go to PCA/Audi club events. There's a higher likelihood that someone with the means and disposable income that would like to drop $40K plus on a car that they don't drive daily. Plus I'd like to see the average price(s) of the MZ4 Coupe go up, not down. ![]()

Clean car, visually.
Mirky history. Semi neglected service. It was someone's track car at some point. You're better off putting the stock headers and exhaust back on,. Get the car back to stock. Most Mods don't bring any value. Sell the mods on their own. I think the guy bought this off bring a trailer. Took the supercharger and parts off for himself, and just wants to make profit. Which is fine. Means car wasn't loved as much as it could have been. 10+ year old tires shows minimal maintenance too. Serviced 4k miles ago, so the current owner never Serviced anything. It was bought with 57k miles and sold with 57k. Seems the car was put away wet. Oil should be changed yearly even with no miles. It catches moisture and deteriorates. If it was me I'd change all the fluids every 3 years. Even with no miles driven. The manufacturer says to so as well. Many think the no miles driven means it is fine. I'd argue that the manufacturer who engineered it knows best. I'm just a 3rd party observer in the previous comments, I'll call a spade a spade. tje seller did seem to give a lot of information about the car, but it was selective. Many people who want a z4m don't have unlimited resources and want to do their due diligence when buying an important car , to them. And the seller gives tons of history information, but omits certain things from the cars past. Personally, I wouldn't want to buy a car that was super charged and then removed, and i didn't know. I would want to know that. I'd pay less for a car that was in that scenario. It's not value added to have had a supercharger run throb the motor for 10-20k miles. Seller wasn't dishonest but chose to withhold certain information. Why not just say there's a whole bring a trailer page on the car, minus a supercharger? This car is still nice. Just don't like it HAD a super charger run through it. Having full healthy compression is everything for an s54. Running the charger through it then removing it, isn't a bonus for the next owner Last edited by PZ4M777; 06-24-2025 at 11:31 PM.. |
