Transmission Fluid Service?

Hello everyone, I'm very new to the BMW community and also just very new to the car community as well, so forgive me for my ignorance.

I've had an '06 Z4 (Manual) for a little under a year now, and I am trying to be sure I am doing all the correct maintenance at the best intervals. I'm sitting at 59k miles, and I have been doing my research on when to get the transmission fluid replace or flushed. Everyone seems to have different opinions. The BMW dealership believes it to be a lifetime fluid, and it never needs to be replaced, but countless Euro youtubers believe this is false. What is the truth????

Also, does anyone know where I can find a "maintenance schedule"?

Thanks

Time to change it. Not a lifetime fluid even though BMW claims it to be so. Theirs is a life expectancy position.

Very simple to do and will extend the life of the transmission. Improves synchros engagement between shifts. Use a correct fluid. Lots of info on which is better.

This is what I use as do lots of racers. Helps with synchros engagement between shifts.

Did my Z4M tranny and rear diff fluids myself last year. 2006 which just hit 40k miles. That was the second time each had been replaced since I bought the vehicle new. Can't quote sources for why I picked what I did, but both were Redline: 75w80 in the transmission and 75w140 in the diff

I used Ravenol MTF-2 since it’s the closest match for OE fluid viscosity but higher quality base stock. It shifts great highly recommend.

Change out all fluids if you have no record of when they were last done. My Moupe is now at about 50k and I've done the gearbox 2 or 3 times. Fluid isn't expensive.

I use Syncrho Shift II (right side of pic). For some reason they changed the packaging so one bottle is now 'just enough' but I got a second bottle 'just in case'.

The job is easy to do and other than new drain and fill plugs, the only other thing you need that you might not have is a pump to get the fluid from the bottle to the fill port. However, those are cheap enough at an auto parts store or Amazon.
