Sad to hear this happened.
I would go to a doctor ASAP even if you're not currently experiencing any pains, because these types of injuries if not immediately noticeable do develop over a couple of weeks. I'd mention to your insurance the rarity of the vehicle and that the accident will cause the value of your vehicle to diminish significantly. Not sure what would be involved in fixing it, but glad to hear you are ok. |

Oh damn! This sucks. Glad you are ok to talk about it, def bright side.
What year and miles are on your MC? Depending on the damage any chance of it being totaled by your insurance company? When you mentioned the work needed to all those parts perhaps it sounds a lot worse than it is to me |

That will buff out.........
Seriously down in the colonies (New Zealand) that would be a write off, you would have to beg the assessor not to, if you choose to keep the car. Last edited by Willy Sea; 11-04-2019 at 01:59 AM.. Reason: sp |

Definitely need a new fender, new door, miscellaneous bits and bobs and a good repaint as you say. Get a full wheel alignment done at the same time and an overall inspection for other issues (particularly frame, front end components on both sides, rear suspension too). I assume that no airbags deployed? But as this was a relatively low speed impact, I would expect that the car is still solid.
Good luck!

Sent the car to the body shop and told him to check if there's any frame damage. Guy there said frame probably is fine but he will check. Drove the car for 40 miles towards the shop and it didn't feel too broken. Granted I didn't push the car much. There was slight pulling to the right but I still needed to do wheel allignment and add new rubber. (Car still running original tires) Eh, words can't describe how pissed off I am. But whatever. Yup
Spent 4 months finding the perfect model. Babied it for 6 months with bucket loads of enthusiasm. Now I'm just cold and bitter. Best case scenario, no frame damage but the car vin will show a reported accident. Pictures will be uploaded accordingly as per insurance obligations on carfax or its equivalent and the car absorbs a significant loss in value. Paid a pretty penny for a pristine, accident-free, low mileage Z4M. Not even 6 months into ownership all that went to shit. Worst case scenario, expensive repairs, frame damage in whatever form and a car that will never feel pristine again. Seriously. Fuck old people. They shouldn't be driving. The part of the whole experience that I can't get over is the hysterical bullshit the old lady spouted right after the accident. "It's not my fault, because this and that and blah blah", "I have insurance". Bitch, you've damaged a pristine low-mileage collectible car. Sure, I can repair it, but it will never be exactly the same and no insurance company is going to pay the sum of money that reflects the damage. Big part of a collectible holding value is the accident free nature of it. In my buying process I discarded every single Z4M with accident reports. FML. |

If you keep it forever you won't have to worry about resale!
At least it's still in one piece buddy. Glad you're okay!

A bit late on this accident, I know, but maybe not if you will be keeping this car moving forward. My dad has Grundy insurance on his collector cars. Someone hit his '57 T-Bird in the rear quarter panel. It wasn't a huge amount of damage but Grundy covered getting the car back to absolutely pristine condition (about $12K worth) and it didn't cost my dad a dime. While these Z cars are not old enough to be "collector cars", they will cover muscle cars, exotics and modified cars. I have Grundy on my '06 Z4MR. I'm paying significantly less than with my regular car insurance provider. As long as it isn't your daily driver, then they will cover it.

If you ever decide to sell having all of these records and photos will help with your transparency. Correct that you won't get the same value back but you'll get more than if you didn't document all details of the damage nor take it to a shop with an excellent reputation. Any future buyer will appreciate it and pay a little for it rather than the unknown of an accident on a CARFAX I bought a low mileage MC myself about 8 months back, thought about this kind of thing happened and barely drove it because I did pay more for the low miles and value. I ended up buying another more 'used' one to enjoy and may end up just selling the other one for someone else to enjoy who doesn't have the fear linked with 'shit happens' and the drop in value that comes from it |

So sorry to see this pic- Im also at super low mileage (30k-18000mi ) and would be absolutely livid! Same color too -BSM. She looks fixable and definitely not easily replaced so treat yourself to new Michelin Pilots when bodywork is done. Mine also came with original continentals which rode like hockey pucks and that was three years ago...

Hard to tell from the single picture I can see but I'd worry about A pillar damage mostly. The outer skin of the Z4 is replaceable, every piece is either bolted or glued on.

Granted my original post was reactionary and yeah, I probably shouldn't classify all old people as bad drivers, let's not kid ourselves, the older you get the worse you will drive. There's definitely a sample of older people that drive very well, possibly even better than much of the younger crowd especially because of years of experience on the road. However, the vast majority doesn't and it's the arrogance of bad older drivers that are in complete denial of the decline in their senses that pisses me off. It's a question of safety for everyone, from the driver and everyone that surrounds him/her. Age group I'd say around your 70's and above based on what I've seen from random drivers and through family. Lastly, I don't have any tracks around me and I think it's a huge waste to not be able to drive a special car around where I like. Z4M is the attainable collectors car for the everyday working class hero, track days are prohibitively expensive. I really don't see your point.
