I come to work this morning and have this email from my boss who lives in Bethlehem, PA........

"I know you guys like your sports cars.....

9AM yesterday we heard this noise down the street from my house.

This driver (36 year old man) was late to his graduation at Rutgers University. He attempted to pass another car on a two lane road (double yellow lines) and lost control. He hit a tree, slid across a back yard and then rolled.... all this about the length of a football field. Amazing he did not have a scratch... walked away from the accident with no problems.

Too bad for his gorgeous, brand new car! Wrecked!

I guess he was going too fast, and it was cold and rainy Sunday morning"

I am almost 100% certain DSC was off and the back end may have given out

Considering that a good sized tree was snapped in half, I'm impressed the car didn't have more damage.

Wow, I'd like to see an animated reenactment of that accident to visualize what actually happened. It's crazy that he left the road, hit a tree of that size and split it in half and still manged to slide 100 yards. The guy must have been flying down the road.

Was there a Cars and Coffee nearby your boss omitted from the email?

Truly miraculous that no one was injured and besides the car, apparently no property damage either. This could have gone so much more wrong. A cautionary tale indeed.

At least it was a sun roof version. Not as bad...
Great to hear the driver is OK though. He won’t do that again...

Confused on how that tree could snap in half that high up? If you look at this picture you can see his tire marks appear to be going just right of the tree (coming towards the camera).

Hard to diagnose in this pictures but trust me, he did snap that tree

It was intact before he arrrived

My guess is he was probably going backwards or partially sideways while passing the tree. The front bumper/fender snagged and split the tree. The weight of the tree just broke the top portion. He's lucky the tree didn't t-bone the driver side door. Instead, he slid another 100 yards, driver side rear tires popped a bead and the wheels dug into the ground and he rolled over onto the driver side.

Should be tc on wet b roads if your a amateur and i mean that in a respectful humble way , this car can destroy ego quickly but at the sametime its safe to say most of us know when to have fun but more importantly when NOT to and drive normally.
Tldr drive according to conditions and your skill
