Can't wait. I am hoping it is a 2009 model year since we already halfway through 2008 but not getting my hopes up. I wonder how much this will hurt resale, if any. I am sure gas prices will hurt that more than anything but oh well. This is definitely the right vehicle for me and I can't wait any longer!

Way to go Shenard, I guess they got the approval from the powers that be for emissions etc. and now on to production. That thing should be a beast-- if the twin turbo v8 is 1/2 the engine the n54 is. Knowing BMW it is! Let's see those pics when it shows up. Cheap

It is an oddball release time. The 2008 X6 was referred to in the press as a 2009 model. I am not sure what determines the year they choose. Might have something to do witgh BMWFS and leasing.

BMW Leasing has a 55% residual after three years on the X6. So whatever happens to resale values, it's their problem not yours if you lease. If you're planning on paying cash, you may want to consider a three-year pre-paid lease, just so you get the benefit of the guaranteed residual. I'm holding off for an '09 in the hopes of getting the leather dash, but I'm still envious! |

A dealer contacted me back in Feburary. Claimed that they had an immediate production slot of the X6 35i and that I could see the car in about 6-8 weeks. Although doubtful, I gave him the benefit of the doubt. Needless to say that I waited and waited until a couple days after the offical launch to actually see the car. On the plus side, the car was one of the first ones to come out. (Though there were reports that a few X6's were seen driving around prior to the launch date). I absolutely love the X6 and wished I could have taken it home, I had to pass on it and go with a X5. Compromises one makes with a family. |

It is a 2008 model and ordered all of the specs and got my production order # yesterday. Should start production the last week of June and I should have at the dealer between July 19-22nd. According to the dealer there are no further release dates or waiting for it once produced because the official release date for the X6 model has already occured. They area calling Spartansburg today to confirm that the order was accepted and that production will start last week of June as their info tells them.

Shenard,
Congrats on your X6 order. What color are you getting? You'll love driving it around Big D. I've literally had people come up to me on at least 4 occassions as I've parked mine to look at it and talk about it. Definitely a cool car that is fun to drive and gets lots of attention. BTW, Classic BMW has a great car wash service. Simply drive it in to the service bay and tell them you want it washed. The valet takes it, gets it washed on their site, and brings it back to you. Just give him a tip and you're good to go. |

Hey Shenard - VR with SB Nappa looks really good - classy! Have you had a confirmed delivery date yet? Thought yours was due a week or 2 ago - has it slipped back? Make sure you post some pics when it arrives! Cheers, Anteater.

Actually, it was originally scheduled for week 30 production (last week of July) and then I added on Heads-Up display several weeks ago and it bumped my production to week 32 but it actually just started production the middle of last week and should hopefully be built beginning to middle of this week. I will definitely post some pics once it arrives

That is awesome! I am guessing they are bumping up the 2008 50i orders to get them done to start getting ready for the '09 production.
