Increased Emissions...Randomly Went Away?
Couldn't find another post like this.
2 days ago, I saw Increased Emissions + Service Engine Soon light appear. I freaked out a bit, but still ended up driving the 40+ miles back home. Today, started up the car twice to run errands. The first time, both error and light were still on. However, the second time, both error and light disappeared. Has anyone else experienced this? I'm under extended warranty for my e90 M3, so should I still head over to the dealership for them to investigate/diagnose? |

I had this happen to me on a long road trip from Miami, FL to Raleigh, NC. It the SES came on for about 30 minutes then just went away and hasn't come back since, I just chalked it up to a hiccup in the system.

o2 sensor. I had to replace both passenger side sensors after SES light came, went, and stayed on. Same thing happened with the driver side sensor then it stayed off. I'm thinking i'll eventually have to replace both on the driver's side as well. if you're losing power, it could be TA.

if you have a scanner you can read stored codes and see what they point to.
I had an intermittent cel like you are describing when my battery was nearing end of life, but this is probably more attributed to my IBS being uplugged.

I had this happening when one of my throttle actuators went bad. BMW didn't figure it out until its 2nd visit to the shop. I noticed no loss of power or any other issues, but the code finally pulled indicated bad actuator. I only had a generic code reader at the time and the generic code was indicating a bad thermostat, which was also replaced at time actuator was replaced.

My battery discharging usually causes this error for me. Hooking it up to a tender stopped the issue.

This morning when I finally got in my car it gave me the "increased emission" warning. And I freaked out a bit too. But now you mentioning this makes me think if it could be my battery. umm... My commute to work is very short, but driving the car felt normal nothing out of the ordinary. what do you guys recommend me to do?
