Skyer Z4 Spoiler Group Buy

Hello Z4 enthusiasts,

I'm a Z4M roadster owner and have been on this forum for several years now. I've owned a couple of BMWs in the past: E36 M and E46 M. This is my first roadster and I love every minute of my ownership still.

The search for a proper trunk spoiler has been my quest ever since I've purchased the car. Over the years, there're only a few options available because of our limited production numbers. Some of the back story and development of this spoiler can be found here:
http://www.zpost.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1283152

Over the summer, I've convinced a friend who owns a factory in China and has been developing and producing formula and dragster kits for 20+ years. Over many conversations, he finally agreed to assist me in developing this project together. After a few months of work, we have a one-off spoiler for my beloved roadster! He has agreed to produce more if we have enough interest!

If there's enough interest for the future, they might produce other CF parts for this chassis! It's a very rare car over there and can't even find any trunk available.

Product Details
  • Fits 2003-2008 Z4 Roadster: 2.5, 3.0i, 3.0si and M
  • Based on the poll of this forum, this Group Buy is for CARBON FIBRE Skyer Z4 Spoiler ONLY!
  • Each spoiler is handmade and checked for finishing/fitment after production and before shipment.
  • We have spent lots of time developing this spoiler. Crate-shipping the trunk to ensure proper fitment and eventually made a copy of the trunk for test fitting at the production site.
  • This spoiler developed with most of my input and all of my standards.
  • Z4 chassis projects and products are not popular but I just desperately want a trunk lip for my roadster.
  • Carbon Fibre will be glossy clear coated with UV protection.
  • This is purely an aesthetic/cosmetic piece with no performance gain guaranteed.
  • Installation is a breeze. Can be easily mounted with only double sided tape or any other preferred methods .
  • This Skyer Z4 spoiler is the developed from scratch and this is the one and only.

Group Buy Details
  • Allocation of time and resource at this production site is very limited with other products taking precedence over this spoiler. First group buy will limit to 20 pieces for a production run.
  • Verified Paypal + fees only and ships worldwide
  • The first spoiler will start shipping on Dec 8, 2016. The SKYER spoiler will ship as soon as it's completed in the order of the Group Buy Paid List.

Payment will need to be completed 72 hours after Group Buy closes.

Shipping:
  • Shipping to CONUSA 48 states and Canada will be US$45. All other locations please PM for shipping cost
  • Since it'll be shipping from their production site overseas, all custom and taxes charges are the responsibility of the buyer; however, from the their experience air shipping a small auto body parts to N. America, only twice were there custom fees and taxes charged over the course of several years.
  • It'll be delivered via USPS for the USA and Canada Post for Canada with tracking number from origin, same for all shipments around the world.
  • The EMS tracking number can also be tracked VIA USPS OR CANADA POST WEBSITE! You can contact your local postal service to arrange for Pickup/Re-delivery/hold options..

I will do that over this weekend.

Due to the curvature of the trunk and specially where this lip sits, I think the fitment is close to perfect. There is no straight nor flat spot at this part of the trunk. No wonder most other lips either avoid it (OE style) or cover it (Alpina style)

The bottom of the lip is closed up and matte black in color to create a mounting surface. Because of my concern regarding ease of installation, the mounting surface is curved ever so slightly to fit the edge form of the trunk. I can position this lip in seconds without masking tape. It feels like this lip just "clicked" into its place. I think the workmanship and fitment is very good.

I'll take more pictures.

Are these intended to be installed straight out of the box - or painted to match the car and then installed? My car is Montego Blue so leaving the spoiler unpainted might look strange. But it would be a shame to cover up the nice finish you have there.

My car is Maldives Blue and I think the CF will be a nice contrast.
Going all out this winter with this lip, front lip, skirts and mirror caps all in CF.

Looking forward to seeing all installed.

It's up to you. It's ready for installation out of the box since I requested it to be glossy gel-coated with UV protection. You can install as is, or paint match it or paint match part of it to create some design cues. It's really a personal choice. If it's the FRP version, you'll have to paint match it regardless or leave it semi gloss black.

What CF front lip and side skirt are you installing? Care to share?

You can go either way.
There is no issue painting cf to body colour.

Sure, nothing too special.
They are actually side skirt extensions a la dubsesd
http://www.zpost.com/forums/showthread.php?t=936261

The front lip is a CF version of the polymer piece I have on now.
I have the Pre face lift front end, actually like it more than the face lift, more curvy

Where can you buy the side extension? Straight bolt on or cutting involved?

Not bolt on
Need to cut around the jack pads and possibly shape a bit to suit taste.

its not even close to fitting the coupe.
I might look at something similar for the coupe when I fit my new wing.

i beleive it prevents a little bit of lift.
look how the m3 e92 tiny rear spoiler makes a difference already from e92.
also look at this video from minute 25 when he adds a rear spoiler.

AriuSen we should move coupe discussion to a new thread, so we don't mess up this GB thread.

This looks fantastic. Nothing too over the top and a perfect match for something else I've got in the pipeline.

Question though - Because these are being dropshipped from the factory or trader, and are more or less unbranded, who are we to contact should we find issues with the product (i.e. fitment issue, damage, etc.)?

I have faith in your vendor, but it seems a valid question for a $400 lip spoiler purchase. Freakin' excellent work on all of this!

I will be the contact for the spoilers from this group buy and deal with the factory should issues arise.

As picky as I am, their experience and professionalism in the formula/dragster scene shows in the design and workmanship. They told me to remove the center spoiler from the hard top to benefit more gain from this spoiler. :
