Last thing you want is an incomplete transfer. Good luck with the install, it's worth all the sweat and blood

Yes, they're a real nice crowd around here and they've kept me in the fold even after straying off-brand And yes, I am definitely going to line my little Z up against a cobra and smoke it this summer. Unfortunately that's what happened, stalled out on the transfer. Hoping it will restart today without issue. Agreed! |

Just wanted to share an update, working away at the VF570 installation. It's proving to be quite an adventure!
I bought Rated M's kit which was one of the earlier kits made. It's basically the M3 kit with a few Z4 bits and pieces. I've been reading through the M3 and Z4 install guides at the same time. It's probably been said before, but VF's installation "instructions" is really just a vague guide. A one-line step such as "mount the supercharger" doesn't really imply you either need to tear the entire front end of the car off OR jack your engine to make way for bolt clearances.... a little more info might have been helpful in printed form Not much room to work! |

+1 on the vague instructions.
I retraced my steps 2 or 3 times during installation and the instructions became somewhat clearer. Their estimated 8 hours install turned into 3 weekends for me due to old brittle plastic bits that needed replacing with new. Worth every bit of frustration in the end though

My wife and I were both heading out this morning at the same time and she grabbed this impromptu video of me (I was just bringing the car out for annual inspection).
So, we'll call this the first vid of several, but this will give you a glimpse of what my setup is going to sound like! VF570 RPI's Euro Headers SS section 1 - no cats |

I'm in Moncton, NB. We had rain last night which really washed away a lot but we still have mounds of it everywhere.
I did go through second gear pretty hard at one point today near an industrial park and the Hankook 275's on the rear are absolutely no match for the VF570. I think they started spinning somewhere shortly after 3000rpm. I haven't put the car through it's paces yet really --- a combination of me being cautious on the cold roads, and the exhaust is what I am going to call "prohibitively loud"... so loud that if I step on it hard in a residential area I am 110% sure that I'll end up getting fined. So right now I'm playing it fairly safe while I wait for DKF hangers to arrive and consider exhaust options. I'm going to need to hear it for myself as a bystander before I make any decisions. The volume I am experiencing in-car could possibly be RPI + too-tight hanger's + no sound deadening + coupe. |

I was guessing Moncton.
I spent quite a bit of time down there when we built the new water plant at Turtle creek. FWIW, I found that the RPI inserts made a considerable difference with the in cabin drone.

The hangars were OK, but I felt the OE were a little stronger support for track use.

Woohoo! Got a buddy to capture this video of the car today. I love the way it sounds from the outside.
The inside, on the other hand, MUST be addressed. I've got a vibrating change holder, vibrating door handle, vibrating compartment door (between seats), HUGE drone, HUGE volume. My plan is to try addressing the interior without changing the exterior (too much). I'm planning to try the following: 1. DKF Hangers (en route) 2. RPI Inserts 3. Dynamat trunk hatch area / trunk |

FWIW, There's a great Canadian source for sound proofing products that I have used.
Great products and decent pricing as well. http://b-quiet.com/?gclid=COnlosKJ88QCFQYHaQodiLMAHg

I used their B-Quiet® Ultimate for dampening product.
I also bought a piece of the Vcomp for a floor liner that I use on the street but remove for track. ( weight)

Update:
My air kit arrived the other day after waiting what seemed like forever for the custom-ordered struts to come in from AirRex. I went out to the garage to do a mockup with the tank, fittings, compressors, etc.... only to find that the struts and air bags are all manufactured with 1/4" fittings, not the 3/8" that I ordered! Of course, the company I ordered from managed to get the other half of the order right -- 3/8" fittings, 3/8" AutoPilot v2, 3/8" tubing, etc. Unbelievable!!!! |
