i plan on writing up a DIY when i get all needed parts, AKA the tune, i found the ecu tuner to pute either a SI stock BMW tune or tuned SI soft ware which should yeild 275hp from what they are stating so in terms of hp figures this would net me possably over 60 hp for under $1000
i just bought a SI intake 3 stage manifold of an 09 X3 with all actuators and looks brand new for $200 the ecu flash is $400 so thats it, we n52 3.0i owners have the same exhaust and intake as the SI, it all came down to brakes and sofware tune with the three stage intake. the way i see it im suprised not more people are trying it as its way cheaper than exhaust and or intake and its a garranteed HP improvment over stock 3.0i for around the same price as either, best part its all stock! i will post the mod process and DIY here after i get the car back from the dealer. also from what i hear the swap if intak manifolds can be done in under 2 hours, the ecu a few minutes. end result possable 60HP at worst 45...should be nice! |

Heck if you can pull this off, better get your second hand manifolds quick. I 'd want to do that to my wife's 328, and imagine there'd be plenty of others wnating to turn their 328s into 330s!

Yea its been done on the e90 post but still no DIY to speak of. Regardless if the 275 is attainable the 255hp of the si is very attainable and to have si numbers on an I and not have to pay insurance premiums is all good with me. The wiring is already their on our non si cars as you can see the two wires on the side of the manifold just swap manifolds and plug in the wires and you have an instant 10hp even without tune as the standard 3.0i has software built into the ecu to run the actuators so you can swap the intake manifolds and not even touch the ecu for a 10hp gain.
The 3 stage intake manifolds can be bought here for cheap WWW.car-part.com theirs a fewvused ones for 200 bucks. 800 dollers cheaper than buying new. More to come in a few weeks. |

Bookmarked the page for the parts. I only found 2 on there so far. Around the same price that you quoted. I may have to look into this more.
