So still thinking about the 1M bumper on the Z4, I'm curious to know if it still keeps the same dimensions as the 1M for width and curve. I think it would not only look great on our cars by itself, but if you could fit one of the many CF lips to it, it would look great with that as well.
I was thinking something like this

I thought the same, but hoped it was just the angle the picture was take at.
It looks like the headlights are looking up, as well.

Here is another example.
However, I believe this one is using the MTech non-M front bumper, and also has a different set of fenders. I like the M3 front bumper more, with the narrowed fog light openings (or lack thereof). If the OP isn't going through with it, I can allocate the resources and get this made. |

MFest 2012? I would love to see more Z4s with M3 and 1M front ends. There isnt a very big aftermarket for this platform so seeing some more stuff available would be awesome. This guy's car was linked in a post on the 1st or 2nd page with photos of more angles.

I'll contact some of the resources I've worked with in the past to see what we can do.
The reason why most vendors don't tackle this, nor manufacturers, is due to the limited market. Not only that, but the percentile of enthusiasts looking to swap bumpers is usually not worth it to them compared to the other M models. Anyway, I'll make a few calls and shoot a few e-mails this coming week. In the meantime, let's get some feedback so I know what we can aim for. Material: Fiberglass is probably the most realistic option. Polypropylene is probably the most desired, but unrealistic as the mold cost would drive the cost up a decent amount. Carbon Fiber is also do-able, but I doubt anyone wants CF for a front bumper that will be painted. Paint and fitment: Pre-painted parts are convenient, but there may always be a minuscule discrepancy from UV exposed paint to fresh paint that you want to keep in mind. Is the convenience more important or would you rather have an un-painted part that your body shop can paint match and fit? Bumper options: There are three options right now. One being the original E9X M3 retrofit. Two, the M3-Replica bumper (this is the M3 bumper replica that non-M E9x owners retrofit on their 325,328, 335). And lastly, the 1M style bumper retrofit. Personal opinion. Original M3 due to the subtle and yet correct proportions. Looks OEM on the car and lost more aftermarket support in terms of front lips and splitters. The M3 Replica grill/fog area looks too "tall". 1M-style is too aggressive for a daily. Also, different era of designers. Pricing: What price range are you okay with? Being realistic here is the key. I would prefer the 1M bumper with a price range of 700-800$ Un painted, fiber glass is fine, but with out the reflectors of the z4m

I think I would go with the 1M as well. It would also have to have the tow hook access hole. No reflectors would be a plus, but legally understandable to meet DOT or w/e rules. If it was sectioned a little bit so stay within the same height as the stock bumper that would be good too. I never liked the look of a car where the front bumper is 2 inches lower than the side skirts.
And as previously said, I would only get one of these bumpers if it was one peice and not 2 bumpers fused together.

Having seen the comparison, I'm really liking the Original M3 Retrofit, but I could get used to the 1M.
As most seem to agree, would have to be <$800.

same here, I'm ok either with 1m or m3 AS LONG AS PROPER BREAK DUCK IS INCLUDED. This is very important. I do not like to have cheap aftermarket looking bumper with mesh grill where you can see through the ground...

Yes, they do everything ... paint to molding OEM 1M bumper to OEM z4 bumper and install
