Look closely - that car has extended leather but somehow it’s not on the Monroney. I might be a bidder before it’s over. I miss mine so badly!

That one has a bit of controversy. First time I ever heard of an S54 leaking oil from the head gasket. It's interesting that it occurred just before the car changed hands (according to CarFax). Makes me wonder if it was found during a PPI, or if the original owner said "I'm selling the car, do whatever it takes to get it ready." They found a VANOS tab broken too.

Hmm.. yeah, indeed. And valve seals at such low mileage.. why?!

PS: funny that the seller keeps saying that head gasket leaks are common on S54. Clearly he’s no clue what he’s talking about.

Sigh. Right you are. I placed the 2nd bid ($23,456) but now a $28k bid was dropped today. Such a weird history this car has. Kudos to the current owner for his full disclosure of all the history, going back to before his ownership. It would have been easy to just acknowledge what HE has had done to it and there would be a lot fewer questions.

I think what concerns me most is not the head gasket issue, and the VANOS was upgraded when the busted tab was found, so that should be a plus (as long as the tab that was retrieved from IN the engine didn't do any damage!). But all the electrical gremlin stuff worries me. These cars are not known for being an electrical headache - the electrics all date back to the dawn of the E46 and were quite mature (and relatively simple) by 2007. I never had any issues with either of mine, nor do I recall reading about anything memorable here over the years. But this thing has a bunch of weird stuff in its past, including a headlight that was intermittently not working, with no sign anything was ever found or done about it. When I see histories like this, I worry that there could be an issue with the main wiring harness - perhaps pinched/breached during the car's assembly, meaning you might have gremlins anytime and you'd never be able to track em down or fix them. Also the selling dealer, who claims to have some extensive history as a BMW service manager, is selling the notion that a leaky head gasket is "not unusual" on an S54. Nonsense. In fact I don't recall ever hear of anyone replacing one. So his credibility is in question for me.

This car is one of only 268 that received Extended Leather and that's a HUGE draw for me. And it's navless and has carbon leather trim - my most desired spec. We'll see how it plays out. I'm not out yet, but I haven't figured out yet how far I'll go. Probably a good chance it goes RNM.

That red unicorn shocked me - only $50k? I would have thought EAG would have been a player at that number. Not a car for me though, because if I buy another one, I'm gonna drive it - and it makes no sense to pay for such low mileage if I'm gonna turn around and start running up the miles. Would rather start from a higher number at a lower buy-in.

It's not just feelings (or price) about those very low milage garage queens that would deter me away. But much more the amount of work / parts I'd need to throw in to make it functional again (and that's considering no irreparable damage has been done to it yet, like cylinder scoring for instance).

The M is sitting at $30k with seven days left – I imagine it's going to be north of $50k before it's over.

Shockingly, to me at least, looks like $36.6k.
