2007 z4 3.0i roadster - suggestions pls
Hello group
Got myself a 2007 z4 3.0i roadster. After reading this forum I have decided to get rid of all the 4 run flats and replace them with non-rft. I am also going to replace the stock wheels. My tire specs are Front : 255.45R/17 and Rear : 255/40R/17. Can you pls help me with following questions; 1) Recommend xenon lamps for the headlights. 2) Can I replace my stock tires with 18" instead of 17". 3) Since I am changing both the tires and wheels , do I need to take to to the dealership or could I do this at a reputable tire installer. 4) I am thinking of purchasing the wheels and tires at Tirerack.com and following is what I have in mid. Pls let me know if this is a good choice for wheels and tires. The color of my car is bright red with a black top. You will be fine with 18s as long as they are the correct width and offsets The ones on tirerack didn't specify offsets from what i quickly glanced at.
If you are going for 18s wanting to stay with stock tire sizes you are looking at Front: 225/40R18 and Rear: 255/35R18. The tires you linked are All-season. They are good tires from what i've read but if you want to try full out summer tires i would recommend the Conti ExtremeContact DW. For looks alone i would go with your first choice. The black rims look pretty nice, the other ones i think are a little bit too much. |

Thanks for your responses guys. I spoke to Tirerack.com and the guy mentioned that the wheel I am interested in does not come as staggered. He suggested that I buy the same size (18x8) for all the 4 wheels and use the same tire spec (225/40/18) all around. I am not sure what impact this will have on the performance. My stock spec are F : 225/45/17 and R:255/40/17. Can you pls let me know if it is ok to get the same size for all the 4 wheels. Thanks for your help rsk |

Running 225s all around will look pretty odd and "skimpy". Since the wheels are not staggered your rear wheels will probably be buried in the wheel well, which you should be able to fix with spacers.
Personally if i was in your situation i wouldn't get non-staggered wheels, they just won't look "right", and i would definitely not get 225s on the rear. With 225s on the rear the car won't feel as planted as with 255s, BUT you might get slightly better gas mileage. In the end it is your choice, those are the correct tire sizes and from a purely functional point of view they should be ok for daily driving, but at least consider investing in spacers for the rear, or even better just go with a 255 tire That's my 2c |

A little off-topic, since you are looking for 18" rims, i am considering selling the OEM rims off my M Coupe.
With the correct tire sizes (225/40R18 & 255/35R18) these will fit fine on your car. This is what they look like on my car. You don't have enough posts yet to PM but if you are interested in these send me an email at icespyder7@hotmail.com and we can discuss more. |

YMMV, but I had a set of OEM M Roadster rims on my last 3.0 Z4 (2003) with the OEM Sports suspension and had no issues with rubbing. If you lower the car or change the suspension safe bet you will have rubbing issues.

With Front 225/40R18 and Rear 255/35R18 tires, they will fit fine without rubbing. Have a look at this thread.
