^ Some people refuse to take the clear plastic LCD cover off their factory fresh phone for a few weeks. LOL.
With that said, my wife likes to put her feet up on the dash and wood whenever we drive, so I can't fault anyone for trying to preserve their dash / interior against stuff like that.

You can get the trim brushed again and sealed with an anodize.
It is a common Boeing interior finish.

Aluminum is a very soft metal. Not really known for being impervious to damage(such as titanium), but it is cool looking and light. My opinion is many Z4's were leased and thus the folks who had them knew they were not keeping the car long term so why worry about keeping it pristine? Simple things like dropping the keys on it, or rings will scratch it terribly. I was lucky mine was in great shape, but when I looked at a CPO car before making my decision the salesman was shocked when I looked the car over and said I did not even need to test drive it. He asked why and I said I could tell the previous owner didn't care about the car as evidenced by lots of pits on the aluminum , the damaged front bumper fangs and the scrape around the rear drivers side wheel well. My car had none of these issues.
Have fun with your new toy! |

Yea, as soon as I replace the ashtray grouping (can't just buy the cover, it's a part of the ashtray and heated seat/top switch assembly) so I get rid of that scratch, I'll forget about the aluminum trim and enjoy the car for awhile. |

Yes I do
Looks awesome in the Z4, Its very tough to tell the difference between the wrap and the original OEM carbon leather trim, Obviously your not going to have the stitching going through it but visually its almost identical, I did my door handle pull trims to match my carbon leather and everyone thinks it came like that the match is so good,

It's easy... I figured out what my cars previous owner did.
Being careless throwing the seat belt on. It seems like they would consistently hit the aluminum trim and ding it up. Bastard

Now that makes perfect sense. I can see how the metal clasp of the seatbelt would ding/dent the aluminum.................... but once you accidently do it the first time, you'd think they'd learn and from that point forward be more careful.

My car was owned by someone with long nails before me. It has scratches from them around the window switches and the door lock switch. I really need to find some touch up paint and fix this
