^haunted houses??? i know near the alamo in downtown san antonio, there's a string of goofy places like ripley's believe it or not, some mirror maze, some laser obstacle thing and this real guy dressed in some horror outfit posing on a pedestal and scares the shit out of people as they walk past. but haunted house? no.

^thanks for linking the spreadsheet! i'm wondering if u could update my nearest major city as 'san antonio'. it feels disconcerting how many members live around the dfw area! i'm seriously all alone here out west by the border.

I met one guy with a space grey Z4MC just after I purchased mine in April at a Cars and Coffee meet but havent' seen him since. Other than that, the only other person I've met is 007MCoupe.

^i almost forgot about halloween!
i'd say austin since that's central for everybody. we can meet at barton springs and watch the dogs spoil themselves silly there. i've lived with dogs my entire life. anyway, has anyone been pulled over while running their front license plate on the inside of their dashboard recently? i stumbled upon an article stating how the texas criminal court of appeals recently clarified 5-2 in favor of the front license plate having to be mounted to the front bumper specifically, even if the law-in-writing vaguely specifies the 'front of vehicle'. just wondering because this whole front license plate thing is getting annoying and i've gotten away with two warnings (both times i just had no front license plate at all) and have resorted to propping my front plate on the inside of the dashboard against the windshield, making sure it's fully visible. afaik, texas law enforcement only uses front license plates for identification purposes (for example with redlight or speeding cameras) and not for laser speed enforcement. thoughts? |

from what i know, which isn't much really...you only need it on display while it's parked. like i have mine under the car while driving (it flaps around on the bumper while driving if not). My wife's car still has English plates on the front of hers. We can't get them off and she doesn't care that much. she hasn't been pulled over specifically FOR the plate, but got pulled over once and given a warning about it. She had the Texas plate in the dash as well.
IMO, if you keep getting warnings, eff it. lol if i had to do it over again, i'd go with the go mini go plate holder. that thing is cool. didn't know about it until AFTER i bought the altec one.

go-mini-go doesn't have slant adjustment to follow the curves of the front bumper, which is where i'd go with the slightly cheaper, more adjustable rho plate holder instead. but i'm just seriously not a fan of the offset license plate look, which really spoils the lines. i was thinking of maybe getting a clear bra put on the front bumper and just 3m automotive double-sided tape my plate smack center, keeping my no-holes bumper intact. problem is, i won't ever have the option to remove it at shows or meets and such. i'm going to use suction cups on the plate in my windshield and ride it out. worse comes to worse, i could have it registered in arizona where there is no front license plate rule.

ha! yeah i've thought about doing that when the next texas inspection/registration is due...going with indiana (since that's where i'm from)
on another note, the wife is down with austin on the 30th!

I got smacked with a No front plate ticket the last time I got pulled over. It was a fix it ticket, so I paid 10 bucks and took some pictures of it on the car and they dropped the ticket. My bumper has holes already but the look of the plate on the front is just horrible so I don't wear it. I've been thinking about the Go Mini Go but haven't wanted to throw money at it yet.
I remember hearing that you will still get a ticket if the plate is in your windsheild because they consider that the "Middle" of your car, not the front. RE: Austin. Are we talking about morning, afternoon, night? Haven't talked with the girlfriend but she usually works Saturdays. She is starting to rotate Saturdays off and maybe she will have that one off. I'll keep y'all updated but don't plan around my schedule. If she works and we do this thing during the mid day, I will probably come down solo. |
