He's probably using ricer math. "If exhaust gives me 5hp and intake gives me 10hp and headers give me 15hp and ECU tune gives me 10hp, then I must get 40hp when all combined."

Uh, yeah, in the long run, I'd definitely bet on cheaper. And more reliable. And easier to sell. And maybe easier to repair.

It's not like anyone does a major swap like this in almost any car and it's just done with no problems. I mean, yeah, it was one thing when the only connections from the motor to the rest of the car were water lines, fuel lines, electric to a coil and a throttle cable - you *might* be able to do that kind of swap and have it work with out too much headache. An S54 into another non-S54 chassis? Have a big wallet and unlimited patience...

Next time go to a dyno shop that knows what they're doing and ask for RWHP. If you were smarter you would've at least gotten a baseline dyno before you started doing all those mods. You can't get true crank HP unless you pull out the engine and dyno the engine directly. Any drivetrain loss is just guesstimate. Any shop can make any dyno result look good or bad depending on their mood. The fact that your car got 250HP on the dyno sheet means absolutely nothing. Different brands of dyno machines give you different results too; some read higher, some read lower. Do yourself a favor and do more research on it before you go waste more of your money on pointless dyno runs.

The M54 has been around for long enough - the mods you mentioned you got don't gain you 65~70HP.
