Advice for second hand z4
I am just about to buy my first second hand z4. Can anyone offer any invaluable tips on what to look out for that might be specific to z4's.
Hoping to get 3.0 sterling grey auto with black or grey leather less than 40k miles. Bob |

The cars were updated slightly in 2006. So the 2006, 2007 and 2008 model years have a few extra bells and whistles.
the 2.5 and 3.0 engines (189 hp and 225 hp) were updated to the 3.0i and 3.0 Si (215 Hp and 255 Hp). The front grille was changed a bit - notably, the foglights are rectangular and not round. The tail lights were changed a bit as well. I think there is extra sound insulation in the car. And a bluetooth feature for handsfree operation of a bluetooth compatible cell phone (make sure the seller gets you the PK (pass Key) card with the car.

I would definitely suggest finding one with the ///M seats; they're so much better then the standard Z4 seats. Other then that, look the car over as well as you would any used vehicle - but there aren't many problem areas to be aware of.

If you get one with a power top, it should operate like this when you press and keep holding the "roof open" button.
Cheers!

Check for any signs of moisture or condensation inside the headlight assembly. It seems to be a very common problem and can be very expensive to replace a headlight.

I imported my Z4 into Canada from the US. One day I got faked out by the speedometer. I glanced at it, saw i was going 100, and thought - cool, 100kph. I then realized that I was going 100 mph. Yikes!!!

That will do it! I have to check the speedo accuracy.....I know the 911 I just had was off 5 MPH faster that I was actually going - perhaps saved me from a ticket or two! 99C2

I love the ///M seats as well, but you have to make sure they are comfortable. A few on the boards have had to look for folks to trade for standard seats when the ///M seats were found to be uncomfortable for long trips. They are quite narrow in the hips.
