Z4m front knuckle on z4 3.0i
Are the z4m front knuckles a drop in part (sans strut and brakes) for a z4?
I was looking at parts on different web shops and found one of the drift angle kits for the e46 using the e36 strut for weight savings and 50mm more strut length. I like the idea of having a larger strut stroke as I am above factory ride height for easy ramp clearance. I know that I will have to get a strut/coilover with custom valving for it to be proper as the z4m is heavier. Brake wise I have the Stoptech 332mm kit so I need a different set of hats for the offset? This will probably be a project for the far future as I just refreshed the entire front end suspension. |

wont be an issue, any control arm drift kit worth looking at will be fully adjustable, in camber, caster, toe and steering angle inclination.

You're on stock suspension (shocks)? Most coilovers don't go as high as stock suspension as most people fit them to lower their car. So you'd probably have to get custom (longer) springs. That's I think the easiest solution to your ramp problem.

I mean I already raised the car on coilovers to combat ramps but additional travel would be nice for comfort and performance.
My Z4 is already in a pretty good place and I was looking at additional upgrade paths that could be accomplished at the same time as the next front end refresh. I'm not going to install an angle kit because I don't need the additional widening and heim joints on a pretty exposed control arm will have a wear rate too high for my liking. I was worried that I would need different caliper brackets as it would be too far out the knuckle. Stoptech does not make a 332mm kit for the z4m but they use the same caliper on the 355mm kit so it seems like I would need a new bracket, hat, and rotor combo for it to work now. |
