Well kinda lucky, sorted the issue with the clutch, now just need to sort the linkages..
And then it was time for this... First small test run... Pretty bloody choofed. It's been a long time coming. Lots of little things to still take care of, but we have now got a running chassis. Pretty bloody stoked!!! Last edited by Vanne; 09-28-2021 at 01:14 PM.. |

Reports from yesterday..
1. Intercooler mount thread gone (came loose) I'll have to oversize and retap. 2. Front quarter panel mounts in the way of the tire when turning, I'll need to chop them and re-weld else where. 3. Refit new DSSR. And fix linkages.. 4. Thermo fan isn't working, will need to hard wire to a on off switch. I'll drag my welding rig to the shop today to fix those mounts and a few other bits that need some .... Attention... Then did this today... got through the list up to number 4.. hard wire doesnt work the whole fan is rooted.. Spail replacement inbound... wasnt counting on that 1. intercooler mounts retapped and up sized the bolt. happy with how that turned out, easy as piss.. 2. not easy as piss... fucking took forever and the right mount i welded pretty good, solid first time. the left.. fuck.. spagetti.... had to grind a shit load of crap down and then when i was smashing it with a hammer, it let go. start again, a bit more juice.. this went like this for 3 times, finally got it solid,. but its solid as hell..so thats good. 3. fitted the new DSSR.. linkages fixed... that was actually pretty easy... 4. well we know about that.. 5. while i had my welding rig out, and the argon hadent run out, i quickly welded up a few spots on the dash mounts. 6. felt fucked as no aircon in the work shed and called it a night, for some JD & coke, not too late though as ive gottta run to Kuwait tomorrow.. bastard work, always getting in the way of important stuff. Was aboslutely nuked at the end of all that...

Cheers...can't say I've modified nearly as heavily, but I understand the ....time for *insert drink* and a break to think it all over.
Better to stop and take a moment and then carry own. Sometimes the list of hiccups or setbacks or just things to do can be a lot. |

Lolol..
Quick picture of the front quarter guard mounts I had to cut and relocate the mount and move it all the way forwards as the tire would rub on it at half lock previously. Re-welded and now it's fine during rotation. (You'll also note the brass inserts, which is where the front nose bolts into) |

just installed the new Spal thermo fan.. removed the thermostat activation, not needed will just run with an on/off switch. going to the shop tomorrow to grind out some of the guard where the front wheel hits when going full lock, and hopefully install the boost gauge and the diff temp gauge. i know its been quiet, but i am doing stuff, pretty much on a weekly basis on the car, just not interesting enough stuff to post about it. lolol

Thanks for the update - you know this is a serious track car when The Beast requires a diff temperature gauge!

Dragged my thermo fan housing and new Spal fan with my Dremel and some carbon plate to the hotel in Brussels a few days ago.. (wonder what the x-ray machine would have showed) anyways got some awesome Belgium frittes and mayo and got to work.
Not too bad how that turned out. At least the stay way productive. Weight savings over the OEM fan, around 1.64kgs. Due to no longer having a condenser, the flow through the rad is pretty awesome and thus doesn't require the huge and super heavy 60w OEM fan. Last edited by Vanne; 12-11-2021 at 04:51 AM.. |

Frittes & Mayo dispenser....
This is great, but where will the frittes & mayo dispenser be mounted??
Can you imagine trying to explain to the airport security agent that you're traveling from Dubai to Brussels to work on your CF radiator fan assembly....in your hotel room?? Your "seize the day" moments astound me - you're moving this project forward despite business travel - well done!

Vanne!
Were you in town for today's F1 race at the Yas Marina Circuit?? It looks you're appx 150 miles from Dubai to Abu Dhabi. Sky Sports opened this morning's TV coverage with 'The Decider In The Desert".... All the best, Racerbruce

Lol nah wasn't at the F1 this year, too many other things on. Got the fan in with override switch hooked up, but the idiot oil light is giving me some grief. It's a big 12v red light that I wanna light up when no oil pressure exists, so you can't miss it..
Kinda like this.. Lolol, but seriously... In the ECU box the low oil light wire comes on with no oil px, but only runs at 7 volts. Which doesn't light up my big idiot light.. ( Might need to swap out a bulb or obtain a led one.. Bruce, just so we're on the same page, there will be *NO* mayo dispenser in this car.. Last edited by Vanne; 12-13-2021 at 10:55 PM.. |

That wire coming from the ECU is merely a signal wire instructing the instrument cluster module to energize the low oil lamp on the dash. Doubt you'll be able to use it.
The problem with the factory low oil light is it’s set at something like 7psi. Too little, too late… Before the AiM install, I used this configurable pressure gauge from Speedhut: https://speedhut.com/gauge-applicati...psi-w-warning/ A very high quality gauge that was far better than VDO type gauges. I've also simply plumbed in a 15 psi pressure switch and had a big red light on the dash on my previous car. Worked, but not elegant. I’ve used higher switches, like 20 psi, but found they frequently came on in certain points on track. Proved too distracting. Also a bit disconcerting that oil pressure does see dips with the wet sump system. Dry sump FTW! With the AiM dash you can set the warning using multiple variables, like warn me if pressure goes below 40 psi when over 6,000 rpm. Since my dry sump pressure is rpm dependent, this works great.
