the first BMW i ever drove was an E39 540i.
my father was test driving 'new' BMWs at the time. i had just turned 18 i asked him to let me drive it so he did. I GOT A SPEEDING TICKET. during the test drive. I told the officer "it's a very powerful car and i'm not used to a powerful car" (i was daily driving a 1977 lime green Buick LeSabre and Nissan Sentra base in those years). The officer laughed and shoved the ticket into my hands. |

I didn't actually drive it but, I sat in the seat of an E21 when I was very little. That had left a grand impression on me.
The first one I actually drove was an E38 740i. It was my father's. We loved that car. We had an E39 prior to that. But that 7 series was fire in those days. It was comfortable and quick. It had lots of transmission problems tho. Still, with just 3 gears left in the system, the car worked like a charm until we reached the mechanic. It didn't strand us on the road at all. |

That would be my brother's show car: a 1983 7er E23 ( like this one, but different color). Loved it. I never had the chance to take it for a ride while on my own. My brother was very protective. The car got stolen 9 years ago and my brother crashed down for a while. I hope the s***** who stole it chocked in his sleep.

My first
New member, hi all!
My parents had a H ref 318i which was pretty good to use occasionally at 17 years old. My own first BMW was a 2004 (54) M3 in silver with manual gearbox. Awesome car, loved it! Pricey. |

hahahaha, normally I can't either, but this situation stuck with me. One of the greatest memories with my Grandpa and one, that had a huge impact (... my Mom still blames him & my uncle in 'Bama for me getting a petrolhead).
I inherited the successor of the car mentioned above, his E39 520iA to be exact, two years ago after he had passed. Really glad I'm fortunate enough to keep it alive & running. |
