Hey guys, looking for one of the more quiet after-market axle-backs.
Thanks! Last edited by DaveJB; 03-21-2016 at 12:20 PM.. Reason: Found one |

Incredible pictures of the deep imola red I have never been able to properly capture that color
Good to know that you can customize those tips. Now I know to do the same should I ever decides to swap to these |

Have a pair of mufflers from E39 540i fitted in. These flow extremely well, were good for a 280hp 4 liter, so np with two of them, each handling a 175 horsepower 1.6 liter. Remove the resonator can and use only the muffler can section. Easy fit. No groan, or boat sound at 1500 - 2800 local cruising speeds like aftermarket mufflers put out.

Thanks guys. CRfine, you of the well-known highly modded blue Z. Did you sell that car?
EDIT: All caught up. Z4 M to Z06 to M3 back to the Z4. I'm right here in north central Phoenix so how lucky for me. I'll have to admit, after I posted I found the threads about modding the stock exhaust for about $200 and am very interested. I'll PM you and see what you want for them. Interesting Mpathic. I suppose that could be a 3rd option if the other two don't work for me. Last edited by DaveJB; 03-17-2016 at 04:49 PM.. |

Guys, I got 'em installed. They were exactly what I expected sound-wise and that's a good thing. I don't have a bunch of exhaust systems to compare these to, but certainly they're louder than stock, not raspy, they're quiet at idle but you can tell they're aftermarket mufflers and it sounds great. There's no drone at all at steady-state freeway speeds but I'm sure if you're going up a light grade while on the freeway you'll hear some then.
Said another way, even on my motorcycle I run my Yoshimura slip ons with the db silencers in as they're too loud without them on trips of any length. I say that to explain that I want my exhaust systems to be on the quiet side and these Stromungs work for me. BTW, you're not seeing things, crfine had these mufflers custom-made with larger tips and they're pretty sweet. crfine has the exhaust install DIY and I used his tip of pulling/pushing on the bumper to help even out the tips. If I'm feeling motivated I'll get some pics with more light, but probably not Last edited by DaveJB; 03-21-2016 at 01:13 PM.. |
