Z4M Proactive Hose, Pump, Radiator Replacement
So it seems the 80K mile mark is time to think about cooling system preventative maintenance (hoses, water pump, reservoir maybe even radiator).
But for cars often such as ours (often not daily drivers) that may not roll on the miles what about life span of these cooling items in years? I'm tempted to change my hoses at 8 yrs and 55K miles in the Spring. The pump and radiator concern me less. Thoughts? |

Rubber becomes weird and weak with age. Changing belts and hoses (which have even more stressful lives) proactively seems like a smart thing to do.
$150 in parts vs $4000 engine damage + inconvenience caused by a leaking belt 200 miles from home. Seems like an easy choice edit- leaking hose- last nights bender is still wreaking havoc -gc |

Ok, then to do a coolant hose maintenance (leaving the reservoir for when the water pump is done) I see the following parts (someone please check my work)
-Upper hose with one clamp -Lower hose with one clamp -Reservoir hose with two clamps, one holder -Temp. sensor (while you're there) http://realoem.com/bmw/showparts.do?...54&hg=11&fg=35 |
