New noise
I have a 2008 Z4 3.0 Si Coupe. When I get on the gas winding through an on-ramp, I am hearing a brief "whuuup" as it up-shifts through each gear. It will occasionally do it off the line but I usually notice in accelerating sweepers. It almost sounds like a smooth pop-off valve on the up-shift. Something to be concerned about?
I go off of the extended warranty in May and would like it resolved on BMW's nickel if it's a problem. Only 43,000 on the car, not tracked. TIA |

I have an '08 3.0si coupe also. Mine is automatic and I'm assuming yours is as well? I have what I think is the same noise. Noise happens on my car exactly as you describe. On hard acceleration. I asked my service advisor at the dealership here about it. His thought was that it was normal and that it was exhaust related. Someone else may well be able to explain more fully?

Mine is an auto as well. It's clearly related to the upshift. I plan on doing a fluid change for the transmission in the next month or so. I was wondering if it requires a band adjustment or if the internal pump is cavitating under side load. No indication of any leaks or seeps anywhere under the car. Good to hear that it's not just me.
