EMP07- What's the final verdict on fitment? I am thinking about a 500lb TCKline rear spring (5.5" long) with the RE articulating perch and their upper plastic cone perch. Is this not a direct fit? It looks lime you had to adapt the plastic perch for fitment??

OK - I was not getting too far calling and emailing people to figure out options so I decided to try out the 90-170 (500 lb/in, 6.7" long) KW spring that I had sitting around on the rear using the existing KW Clubsport perch and no other new hardware. Here are my results with pictures.
Stock KW Clubsport rear progressive spring next to the linear 90-170 KW spring. As you can see the physical height of the two springs is the same. The one difference is that the lower end of the progressive spring is round coil and has a slightly smaller diameter compared to the flat linear spring. The bottom perch is a perfect fit for the progressive spring and a slightly loose fit for the linear spring. I cut out a little rubber ring for the upper KW perch to reduce any chatter from the spring. I started out with the perch set exactly where it was with the progressive spring. Lowered the car and went for a quick drive to settle the springs. Came back and measured and the car was sitting about 1.5" higher than before. So I changed the perch to its max lowering setting (spun all the way to the top) and took the car for a quick spin and came back and measured. It is now sitting about 1/8" higher than my previous setting. I think the setup will settle a bit so I am not too worried about this. Downside is that I lost height adjustability in the rear now as I am at max lowering - unless of course I decide to go for some rally style setups I will run this setup at NJMP this coming weekend and see how the car feels compared to the progressive setup. Ideally, if this works then I think a 6" long spring would be ideal for use with the stock KW Clubsport perch or a 5.5" if you want more lowering and/or want to use the Rogue articulating perch. [Edit] Looks like Behrent's has 6", 500 lb/in, 60mm linear springs for a great price. Hyperco HYP186M0500 @ Behrent's Last edited by pal; 06-01-2013 at 09:23 PM.. |

I will def keep you all updated. This is a trial setup before I get the right length spring (and higher rate if needed) and possibly an articulating perch. The setup I have now is a 400 lb/in front (stock KW Clubsport) and 500 lb/in rear linear setup. Damping is set to 7comp/11 rebound; will change rear to 8/12. |

If it is any taller, it will be more toed out. When you have your car on the alignment rack, lift it up and down and you will see what little motion does to the toe.
I would get it aligned or lower it to the exact stagnant height of the previous, especially driving a tail happy car at the track. |

I have 650 front and 750 rear spring rate.
I run on Pirelli Trofeo (60 threadwear) right now but will have Pirelli DH slicks for my next Time Attack event next week. Spring rate will most likely be too soft for full slicks tires. With the Trofeo, I run at 17/18 clicks compression front, 14/18 clicks rebound front, 17/18 clicks compression rear, 15/18 rebound rear. I am running -3.2 front camber and -2.5 camber rear but it wasn't enough, outside shoulders on the tires are wearing way too fast right now and inside looks like new... I will re align the car on tuesday to -3.8 front and -2.8 rear. Just bought adjustable rear lower control arms to be able to get more camber than -2.5. |

Thanks seank. Since I am at the lowest setting on the rears, I guess I will get an alignment
Gtfour- My KW Clubsports dont have 18 clicks for compression- its around 12 or 14 clicks if I recall. Rebound is 18 clicks though. Looks like you have maxed out your damping on these shocks. |

Got the car aligned today. The camber was down about 0.15 deg but toe was still in spec. We reset rear camber to -1.8 with OE toe and front at -2.3 with zero toe.

i will use the top nuts from the KW V3, the bump stops and dust covers and the height adjusters front and rear. The question is if the KW V3 front purple height adjusters will unwind up and unwind down on the KW clubsport dampers. i hope they have the same diameter. If not i will have to purchase the KW Clubsport height adjusters. |

A quick question about the rear dampers. Looking at the picture, is to top adjuster now sits under the shock mount? If that is the case, adjusting the shocks will be much harder since it is now inside the wheel well.
Will it be possible to post a close up picture or a page from the manual as to how it works? Thanks! |

the adjuster will be inside the wheel well and is actually easier to adjust as you just need to jack up the car, the rear tyres will drop down and you will have enough space to fiddle with it as it has the purple adjuster built in now. if you remove the wheel it will be even easier, much easier. previously you have to jack up the car in all cases since it was impossible to get to the rear bump with the retarded tool. This is a big breakthrough for Z4M Roadster people since with the old rebound adjustment method, you had to remove the roadster trunk trim permanently or you wouldn't be able to access this. the trunk trim i am referring to is this: http://www.ecstuning.com/ES158304/ I contacted KW to get an explanation on why the front clubsport dampers don't have the new adjuster knobs built-in and they replied that this is the axle design and this is how the you get them. Let me know if you have other concerns. |
