Nah, I don't plan to waste $$ on a minimal benefit, unless it's free to fill up with Nitrogen.
Here's a good article: Is it better to fill your tires with nitrogen instead of air? |

Isn't that about the normal nitrogen by volume in the air that we breathe? The moral of this story is that you need to check your tire pressure often, use an air dryer with your compressor, and you'll have a fire hazard in your tires if they get too hot (21% oxygen). OOOOH! I missed a source of foul drinking water if you're driving in the desert.

I've got a theory that if you open your valve, just a tiny bit, the smaller oxygen molecules will escape, and you'll be left with almost pure nitrogen.

I realize your just quoting a silly article...but I love this comment that it's nice for the environment. Compressed Air consumes much less energy, so I'll argue air is better for the environment. The only realistic defensible argument is that the leak rate is lower by several times (depending on liner). But it's still simpler to replenish my tires several times more frequently, if I want to put that advantage to rest. |

As Cliff and I agree, Air is 78% nitrogen. So it's going to be the 21% that is oxygen that leaks out of the tire through the miniscule holes. So, you replace that leaked out 21% with our 78% nitrogen compressed air. Don't you now have about 93% oxygen? My point is that if you don't rotate the air in your tires like you're supposed to, you'll eventually have 99.999% nitrogen anyway.
This is how I win arguments at work and home.

Rosie,
don't do the nitrogen thing. You don't track your car and you don't take it to extreme temps. It's purely a ploy.

I've heard that putting liquid nitrogen into the tyres is bad mkay?
