I've downloaded all of the various software, started UltraISO, but I can't seem to locate NAV_SW.mdf anywhere on my hard drive to extract. Can somebody tell me what folder I should find this in?
Thanks, David |

Hi Guys,
Am a noobie from Australia, picked up my E85 last week and falling deeper in love with it every day. Read the thread and checked my S/W version for NAV, it shows 4-2/30 . Do I still need an upgrade? I am confused as all the posts seems to speak of the 4-1/00 option where I seem to have the 4-2. Please help. |

The first number "4" tells the generation, in all of our cases it's the MK-IV. The second number is the hardware variant, I think it's 1 = Professional and 2 = Business, but I'm not entirely sure. The third number identifies which firmware version is loaded. Since all we see in the US is the Professional, I'm not sure about any compatibility issues with the Business Nav and the lastest firmware. You might want to call up a dealer and ask, or maybe one of our European friends can help out.

Just for everyone's information, I have succesfully updated my System Software to v10 using the v.32 image. So for people out there with the Radio Navigation ie: Amber Screen with arrows and voice directions only, you can use the v.32 image without worries. But I have not noticed any difference/additions in features.

Hi, I updated to 2010 Aus maps 1st then afterwards did the V32 upgrade but dont see any sort of 3D map, just the same old 2D map. Is there a setting to change views?

I think I figured this one out. I hadn't seen the splash screen since I first rebooted after updating the software. The splash screen is displayed for 8-10 seconds while the system boots up. The system boots as soon as you open the driver side door. You have to get your key in and turn it before the boot is complete to see the splash. I'm usually too busy stowing my coffee mug and docking my XM to get the key in that fast.

Enabling perspective (birds-eye view) with MKIV and v27 firmware or newer: * Push the "MENU" button to get to the the main menu. * Scroll to the "SETTINGS" menu selection and click the knob to select it. * Push and hold the "MENU" button for about 8 seconds to enter the GPS Service Menu. * Scroll beyond the bottom to a 2nd page, where you will get the Perspective option. * Click the knob on the Perspective option to select it. * Go back to the map view and click the knob. Select 'Map Positioning' then 'Perspective' |

Main issue I have with Perspective view is that no street name shows. Anyway to make it show street names on Perspective?

Other than the first rebooted after updating the software, I've only seen the splash screen popped up 2x as I couldn't figured out what the problem was...that is until now. You are absolutely correct about the splash screen being displayed only about 10 seconds after system boot (after driver door open). I hardly see it because I too, do too much "fiddling" after getting in prior to starting up |

If I hack my screen and then update and then later do a different disk with a different splash, will it update?

I believe you can't flash v.32 over an existing v.32. You would have to load the stock v.31 firmware and then you could do it again with v.32 with a different splash screen.

Does the firmware upgrade provide any new features or is it just custom splash screen and change the nav voice?

Perspective mode, but your 2007 probably already has that.
Just an FYI the nav software wont change the radio at all, like my 2004 radio doesn't show the preset list.
