im going supercharger, ess tuning vt2-500
I wanted to keep this a surprise til I get it all done but as the title states, I'm going with the vt2-500 kit, I guess I'll be the second red z4m roadster to get this kit. Well at the moment I'm ready to pay for the kit, I already talked to roman about it, and the closest ess dealer to me is tunerworks which is in calgary(a 2 day drive) I have been dealing with bobby over there.
I guess I'm going to have to wait until the renovations are done over there (jan 14) then hopefully get an email back... So transportation wise I'm sending it on one of those double stacker 18 wheeler for 1800 each way. All I can say is that I hope everything goes well and I get my baby back and drive it supercharged! As far as gauge pods go, I just picked my boost and wide band gauges yesterday, and I'm in contact with hpf about custom making their (mickey mouse steering column pod) to fit our cars, in my opinion looks great, since I only want a very clean look. Other than that I'm just playing the waiting game til I get a reply from tunerworks, wish me luck you guy and I will update once I know more, cheers ***PIC UPDATE*** Last edited by rabbit69; 05-04-2011 at 08:39 PM.. |

Why won't they sell this as a DIY kit?
They sell the 445 as a DIY, Whats so different about this one?

Should be a pretty awesome upgrade. 500HP or so? Are you doing any other upgrades (e.g., brakes, suspension)?
@Starscream: DIY? But how do you get the computer reprogrammed as a DIYer? I guess you will have to send the ECU to Norway then? |

I was considering the ESS Stage 1 kit for my 3.0, and it looks to be about 5 or 6k (can't tell from ESS's website, it starts at 5500 and then when I choose a transmission it goes to 6k?).
So the whole setup will run you about 10k? Not too bad for that amount of power Have fun with it!! Chris

torque is nice, the car now drives better modded than it ever did stock.... i see traction light flashing from the 2-3rd gear @ redline, it feel in balance with the car, its a proper supercar chaser now!! @ 37 secs you can see the low end torque in 2nd easily overwhelm my ps2 with 235/35/19 265/30/19 ;-), i have to let off the throttle substantially to regain grip as i cant power slide at that corner exit.

You have to re tune the DME for the 445 kit anyway so I still don't see how this is different?
If you can go as far as install the 445 kit I'm sure the 500 isn't rocket science! So why is only available through dealers? Of which there are none!

the hardest bit of the kit to install is all done in the 445kit, the 500 bit of the kit is only a cooler and different pulley, i assuming ess dont want these kits installed Diy for a reason.

I cannot wait, and yes I have seen your video before, its more than 10 k unfortunately, but its what I decided for, as far as tires I'm running 245/40/18, 275/35/18, I am about to order some r compounds, nt01's. I can't imagine how the car is going to sound. I believe the other z4m that's got a vt2 supercharger is the exact car as mine, roadster and imola red.

So, just to get this right, people install the VT1-superchargers themselves? You don't need to take the car to a shop?
What's involved in an install like this? |

My vt1 was installed at a proper shop..... Infact a Ferrari race prep specialist, they are the uk authorised ess agent, I was very happy to let them do the install and I'm very mechanically minded, the install is complicated IMO.
