Hail Damage

Dunno if you got caught in it too or not Hawkeye.

Got a good 1/2 dozen or so dents in the roof, hood and fenders. I'll be finding out what can be done...

Thankfully got a heads up from a friend and pulled my car under the overhang we have at work. My truck got nailed pretty well and has extensive hail damage though. Golfball sized stuff up north in Marion

I took a picture of a couple pieces when I got home (about 20 minutes after it stopped hailing)

Karaticus - that sucks!!!! I hope you can get it properly fixed real soon. Glad the rest of you have avoided the bad weather demons!!

I was similarly fortunate. In my case, Hurricane Igor came to town yesterday and while it smacked the poop out of much of the town, my car is completely undamaged. Even though it was parked outside. Its just a little dirty and there is one leaf stuck on the front bumper. I attribute that survival to paying attention to the details of the weather forecast and parking the car in a carefully chosen spot between my house and the neighbor that was sheltered from the fierce winds.

Here are some pics of the local damage:

Cheers!!

And here is a picture of hail after 20 minutes of melting in the rain, haha. Still big!

when i lived back east we used to get hail storms. would always see the dent removal guys at the dealer the next day.

i think as long as the damage isn't near a "seem" or weld point, they should be able to get it out no problem.

Mother nature sucks sometimes!

If it would only rain rum and coke to go along with all that hail, we'd be laughing!

St. John's, Newfoundland. That's that big funny-shaped island on the extreme east end of North America. If you are a Titanic buff, its just a few hundred miles from where the Titanic sank in 1912. In fact, there was an expedition, on its way to map and video the wreck site, tied up in the harbor here last month.

Cheers!

Far from a Titanic buff LOL

You must be the only one with a Z on that island, or are there others?

Absolutely!

There is a merlot red 2003 Z4 3.0i and a black 2006 3.0i in our local club, along with a silver Z4M. There's a law office on the street where my folks live and a guy there has a blue Z3M. A neighbor of one of my co-workers has a silve 2005 Z4 roadster, and I've seen several other black Z4's and a red one in town. And, there must be a dozen or more Z3's zipping about. I've heard that there's a black 2010 Z4 here as well.

So, all that to say that for a small city, there are quite a few Z3's and Z4's!

Cheers!

Things are all fixed!

Had 9:30 am appointment at insurance office, $640 repair estimate. They cut me a check for the balance less the $100 deductible, and I was off to the body shop before 10 am, where they asked if I was willing to have it fixed immediately.

They ran me over to work, where I found plenty to do for an hour, called and picked me up about 11:30, out by noon!

BMW CCA has a show and shine at 11 am tomorrow....

Sorry about the damage! We are north of Des Moines. Are you going to show and shine?

Damn, should have read this yesterday. I am not doing anything today and would have definitely gone to the show and shine!

How did it go? We are new owners and have not attended a show and shine yet so are curious about what goes on etc.

Pretty low key -- a dozen or so some odd cars, stories swapped, etc.

First time we've done at Zimmerman's. BBQ in parking lot, with no access to the facilities. Not the best location this time around, but had fun.

Whether it would have been work driving from Des Moines and back is a little doubtful though-- however, there were plenty that did.

Damnit. Didn't notice right after I washed my car, but the lighting must have been right this morning cause I noticed 4 really small dents. 2 in the hood and 2 in the top. Where were you going to get your dents removed Karaticus? Zimmermans quoted me a couple hundered for 4 dents I can only notice in the right lighting conditions... ridiculous.
