OEM Navigation Unit?
My Z came with the just the factory bussiness CD player. Can the OEM Navigation moniter and OEM Nav stereo system be retrofitted to work properly?
Any advice would be greatly appreciated ![]()

It's been done a few times. PVR over on Z4-forum.com has done it once or twice, I think, and had a huge write-up on Z4um before the site died. It was somewhat expensive (a few thousand for the parts) and a huge amount of work. You have to remove a lot of the trunk and interior, you have to cut the dash. Read the DIY and halfway through you're thinking the aftermarket systems aren't so bad...

Thanks epbrown. I could get the parts for a great price, but it sounds like it's whole lotta work if it requires removing parts of the trunk and interior, if you have to cut the dash. I'll check out the Z4-forum site and go from there. Thanks again

I was seriouslly thinking about getting a Nav Sytem for mine, but after a month or so I grew to it and got a Garmin unit. Fortunately, b/c it would be reeaaallly costly

I did mine a while ago and even though it's definitely inferior to my old Avic N3, IMO it looks better. If you don't care for the stock look, go for something that's less trouble and more bang for the buck. FYI, the entire thing took me about 15 hrs and it would have been much less if I had the right tools to begin with.

thats the thing, the stock look isn't even all that great. the plastic bezel is thick as hell, the map views are terrible and options/functionality are so limited. definitely stick with a garmin or a nuvi...
