I'm been looking at Z4 MC and the new 1M and was wondering the exact same thing.
Thanks for all your input!

If only springs, I imagine I could have an issue down the line. Correct?? Dealer could not give me any info on what exactly was done.
Yes, this is the car I once owned. No worries about the oil pan, the tech that replaced it said he had NEVER seen the issue before with any S54 car, the access plug sealer didn't seal and the only way to correct it was to replace the oil pan (no part number for the plug or sealer). H&R coilovers on the car but the dealer should have the OE dampers/springs with ~1k miles in the trunk if you ever decide to go back to stock. Most of the mods were removed but some are still there:

Let me know if you have any questions about the car,

How are you liking the lotus? Happy to be back in one? Any regrets? Curious and was hoping you'd post in the Z4M vs Lotus thread..

After 4 years in the Z4M it is nice to be back in a Lotus.....not better, just different I have only put 100 miles on the car since I bought it, crazy work schedule but am headed to the mountains this weekend after I pull the front shims, I'll be in a better position to post a comparison in the Lotus vs Z4M thread then.

Can't wait to hear about it. Coincidentally, I too will be hopping back into a Lotus next week. Switched over from an Elise a year ago and will be back in an Exige S since I doubt I can kick my torque addiciton after the S54. Will update my Z4MC vs Lotus post soon.

Back on point, first batch of 1Ms have been delivered, cant wait to see a real comparo by ppl who have driven both back to back. I've sat in one a couple of weeks back and its got a much sweeter exhaust note out of the box. Steering feels lighter than the Z4M based only on my short fiddle in the parking lot. Lighter clutch and slightly slicker shift mechanism though it still has a bit of that notchy feel like the Z4M's.

Interior is very ordinary, I do not feel special sitting in it. The shorter hood and more common proportions does make for better visibility overall. The car looks better in person than pictures. Love the wheels.

One thing I may add is are we comparing the '11 1 M to the '12/13 Z4M? If this is the case then Z4M is the faster car. This is known already. If we are comparing the '06-'08 then thats a different ballgame.

For the sake of the arguement I say we compare both current new M's.

'12/'13 Z5M 419 hp and 365 lb/tq at 3400 pounds $79,195 MSRP
'11 1 M 335 hp and 332 lb/tq at 3100 pounds $46,135 MSRP

Yup. I think that sums it up well. =)

It's funny how much they rag on the E92 M3, you don't usually here that. Not that I disagree... that car is basically a boat in comparison to the rest.

Two local big BMW dealers going to be taking orders for the new Z M car in the next 10 months.

These are numbers and prices they have already since I have been wanting to put money down on the new Z M car. This is what was projected. I will believe it when I see more firm proof. I am not holding my breath as I don't typically believe any dealer.

I'm pretty sure there's not going to be a E89 M.

http://www.autoblog.com/2009/03/20/b...o-to-new-z4-m/

I also have a friend that works at M division.. So I'd be REALLY surprised if they do..

Yeah, I seriously doubt it. Here's a more recent article that quotes an interview with the M boss:

BMW Z4 M? Not on the radar, but…an engineering task easy to achieve. “There’s no decision on an M version of the Z4,” added Dr Nitschke, “but this is something we could do easily.”

Yeah I hear you guys too. I like the M2 design in the Coupe version. Looks like the next generation Z5 to me.
