this may be blasphemy - thoughts on new 'vette?
It's certainly a huge change in styling, very polarizing if nothing else, but 450HP, 450lb-ft torque in a car that weighs about the same as a Z4M, could be fun... Some interesting technology in it too. Rev matching in a manual trans on the up and down shifts, if it works could be fun. My verdict is out until it's available for a drive - Corvette history leaves something to be desired when it comes to the overall package in the last few generations.

I think it looks great!
I don't think it will be a style that will be looked back on in the same reverence as the original Stingray or original vettes. It's not a classic styling and will not hold up to time, but for today, right now, it looks great. In the meantime, I can't WAIT until the special editions come out, Z06 and ZR1! They are going to be MONSTERS. |

I have to admit it is growing on me a little, but I need to see it in person. I feel it will be a very large car which I tend to not be engaged by. |

ha - I'm an idiot. Didn't see that thread, haven't been around much - that's what happens when you have a 4mo old....

info is out there, not easy to find though.
177" length - as you know, E85/6 - 161" 74" wide - Z4 70" 48.6" height - Z4 coupe is 50.6" wheelbase 107" - Z4 is about 98" longer, slightly wider and lower that what we are used to. 50/50 weight dist is published, I think I saw somewhere where the head engineer said it's more like 48% front, 52% rear though.

I think that just means the 911 is no longer the small sports car that it use to be. The current 911 is actually longer and wider than the BMW X1.

I like it and a great color also! Unfortunately it's to long to fit in my garage.

I like it, but I hate cars that are very very common. Plus I plan to keep my car forever, unless some new Lotus can win me over

A big improvement over the previous car, but still looks like something that would require a driver who has a bad rug, double-knit polyester sans-a-belt slacks, Members Only jacket, white tassled loafers, and some massive Dangerfield-esque golf bag crammed into the boot. And a stale Pall Mall dangling out the window as he motors his autobox down the boulevard.

That's one thing I love about the Z4M - probably less than 1800 of them in NA now. Vettes are common, especially the first year of any new version. But with greater numbers of vehicles comes a potentially greater aftermarket following - that is one thing that gets aggravating with the Z4M some times.

+1 on the common cars. Once I went rare... I don't think I can ever go back to a common car as my fun car.

Agreed - like it as well. Saw it in person at the auto show = very impressive. Definite Ferrari stylings on the front air dam.

Think I have admired every GM sports-type car for the first year or 2 after they have been released. And then their appearance seems to go stale for whatever reason. Not long after that, they begin to get ragged and then really ugly. That would keep me away from this car until the appearance settles in.
Early 'Vettes (1956-1975) seem to have held up well. Early T-Birds also look nice, but are pigs to drive. Early Mustangs have always looked great. Same goes for most Asian cars, but there are a few exceptions.

No, I am not the driver you describe but I really don't see much difference in the two. And nowadays I see a whole lot more of what I described than what you described. Last edited by RichardTS; 02-06-2013 at 12:13 PM.. |

Well regardless of if it is bigger, and if it is more common than a Z4M, and if most of the drivers don't look like me, I still like the car and would probably have a ton of fun trying to pilot one on a track. Can't wait to see one in person and take a ride in one once they come out!
