30 Days to manufacture the pipes -> July 12
30 Days for coating -> August 12 is how I'm translating the schedule I don't see a delay, rather it's the 30 days process time. |

It was always 30+30 and mfg & finishing. production started after 12th of June when things finally closed off on the GB.

I'm sorry, I'm still confused... GB ended on the scheduled day in May as I recall? Also not sure how the coatings matter as I didn't order that? Sorry to complain, but just found another thread about CF parts where money was sent to someone here on the board and then months and months went by with no product and money tied up with strangers. I've had some very bad experiences before and get nervous when messages don't line up... Again, just wish the person taking my money had sent out an email or something saying, hey, that part you paid for and we told you would be shipped by early July is actually gonna take until mid-August and here's why. Do others think this is unreasonable? If I promised a client something on a specific date and then told him around that time that everything was on schedule to be done 6 weeks later without explanation I'd be fired on the spot.

I no longer expect anything in the way of communication, customer service, or seemingly reasonable updates from almost any business I work with. People just don't seem to care anymore. However, in this case I expected it to take awhile and the part will certainly be worth the wait. No complaints from me.

hey guys, thought id just chime in here, i can see the timeline has slipped alittle But i really want to assure you guys that your money is nothing but safe with dkf, iim a UK member thats had the pleasure of dealing with DKf from the start, ive purchased parts from them, talked to doug many a times and honestly..... if was to spend a large amount of money with ANYONE in terms of an exhaust setup, it would be with doug, the timeline has slipped but i can assure you it will be for an essential reason, to get you guys the very best product, this is DKFs First run of a sort and they want things right.... DKF, Doug, keep the GBer's update a little more, maybe throw some pics up, but i know for a fact when you guys get your product ( not long now, i assure you ;-)) you will be nothing but 110% happy with it..... having dealt with DKF from over the pond and had to put huge trust in someone.... DKF have always been awesome!!

^ Agreed. There is a lot of history here... how long is that original DKF exhaust thread now? Anyway, Doug at DKF is a standup guy; I contacted him a few times about some issues I had with the DKF Hangers, and he always went out of his way to help and make things right with no extra cost to me.
I believe this exhaust piece will be a quality piece, and that inTgr8r and DKF will get us the parts in a reasonable amount of time. As far as GBs go, this is about as good as it gets in terms of communication (although, I agree that more is better). I mean, inTgr8r's got 7k+ posts, who would be more trust worthy to run a GB? |

Production couldn't kick in until that was completed. Paid up numbers impacted our pricing and the numbers to be produced if anyone backed out. Yes it pushed out a bit at the start, but the production time is still as stated and on target. Re finishing. All systems are either polished or coated. Either way it is a secondary procedure that takes time. That time frame also includes shipping from fabricator, shiping back & forth from the finisher to DKF and then packaging to be shipped to each of us. I can assure you that DKF is one of the most reputable companies I have ever dealt with in all my MANy years playing with cars. As Beedub mentions above just look how they handled the hanger GB. I know that that must have cost DKF a lot of money to get new hangars built and shipped, but they stood by our members and followed through. As someone mentioned above 30+ 30 is aggressive timeline for something like this. But DKF is working hard on it and I don't see any issue with with meeting delivery on time. Doug is in constant communication with me on this GB almost daily and the feedback we are getting from the fabricator is all positive. Just a little patience guys.... This is going to be a great piece for our cars.

Sorry all, still learning. This is my fourth Z, but only the first time really modifying any of my cars, and as someone who's had to go to court after losing thousands of dollars via an online deal, I guess I'm a bit more wary than most. To be clear, I totally get the fact that these things take time and that it can take longer than expected. I did not know the story about the exhaust hangers, just got spooked after reading about the CF door incident, and unfortunately I don't know any of you personally (nor had I heard of DKF), although this is an incredibly friendly and helpful board. Plenty have vouched that my money is in safe hands, and I think my disconnect was the delay in letting everyone take weeks to send funds. I didn't realize the impact of that allowance on the schedule. In any case, the part does sound awesome and I am excited to get it. Also do appreciate the effort to make this happen by all involved.
In case anyone cares, communication really helps in situations like this, especially for someone like me who hasn't been part of the community for years. When I send someone money in advance and the last thing I hear is that they're going to send me what I payed for in a particular time frame, and then the next thing I hear is that everything is "on schedule" for six weeks later, it's frustrating. If the original plan had been to receive the part in August or even September, that would have seemed reasonable. Or if I had gotten an email saying, "thanks for your $$$, we're now on a slightly different schedule due to the delay in others paying, we hope you understand," I doubt I'd have an issue with that either. I just get nervous when someone I know only through an anonymous forum has my money and (at least it seemed at the time) begins to shift their story. Make sense? |

DKF is legit. I have the exhaust hanger. It's a great product. Can't wait to receive the section 1.
Now can we have a DKF custom roll cage? I promise I will keep bringing this up until it happens! |

DKF
Figured I would chime in and echo what is already being said by others.
I had the opportunity to work with DKF on their exhaust project in the early stages. They continued to work through hurdles and obstacles that most companies would have stopped at. From personal experience I can vouch for Doug. He is a stand up guy and has proven he will back his product 100% (ie. the hanger group buy). I am happy to see this section 1 available from DKF. I think they hit the price point and we have all seen the quality they can produce. If I was still in a Z4M, I would be all over this. FYI to the Zpost crew, this forum annihilates anything else I've come across in the automotive forum world. I miss being a part of the family. I am now an official lurker Cheers

Totally agree. BMW Z owners are more likely to be hardcore enthusiasts. I used to own a Z3M. The owner community on bimmerforum was one of the best. People made their own custom parts for the Z3M and started group-buys. Sounds familiar? Carbon fiber roof, exhaust hanger, section 1 exhaust etc. I think Z4M forum shaping up to be awesome in very similar ways. |
