I just spoke with Ronald and grabbed one of the remaining 2 units. I'm generally not a short-shifter fan, but I've never been happy with the factory shifter. It ain't bad, but it could be better.

With all the positive feedback on the AutoSolutions unit, hopefully it does the trick.

I'm willing to bet my rear TCK D/As that everyone will be satisfied with their AutoSolutions SSKs

I can't imagine going back stock after AS SSK.

Haven't been on the boards in a while, nice to see another AS SSK GB. Definitely the best mod I've done to this car.

I'd be the guy that spent all the time putting together my install for the forum here: http://www.zpost.com/forums/showthre...=autosolutions Just read through it, I think it's pretty up to date and accurate for what worked for me - hopefully it's helpful to the new batch of AS SSK owners and installers.

In regard to the bushings, you can certainly just use the supplied ones unmodified or re-use the originals. I didn't want to reuse anything in order to make sure no part was worn more than the others and could fail sooner.

If you use the supplied ones and don't chamfer them, it will be very tight for a while - several of the people who put it in from the first GB have openly said that is was really tight for a few months. To me, carefully chamfering the provided bushings, which are definitely much harder than the originals, is not going to weaken them and then the shifter is absolutely perfect from the first moment. Personally, I wouldn't want a shifter that changes in feel over time, even if it improves. Mine is dead precise, no slop, never tight or sticky and it was that way from the first shift after install. Just my two cents. As someone else said, at the GB pricing, this is a no-brainer mod for this car and worth a lot more. Have fun!

So Ronald @ AutoSolutions just emailed and informed me that all of the kits are done, but he forgot the beveling on the washers and is working on those right now. He apologizes for the delay and will try to get the kits shipped out ASAP!

Nice! So we won't need to do our own chamfering as others had posted from the previous GB?

Correct, the delay is all for the sake of addressing the washer issue from the original GB that I was in charge of. These second-round kits should literally be full plug and play kits, without any potential snags.

I would still recommend professional installation unless you've some shifter/transmission DIY experience or other. For all other cases, I recommend paying around $200 for install labor and preferably at a shop that's worked on Z4s or at least other BMWs' before

Yes, RobMCoupe uses the ZHP shift know along with the AS SSK and he likes it. The consensus however is that it's too short overall for most people.

Garage List
2008 BMW M5  [9.50]
2006 Z4M Coupe  [8.77]
2010 BMW S1000RR  [10.00]
Emailed Ronald hoping he has an extra kit left over.
Even after new transmission mounts + new transmission + CDV Valve delete on my Z I am still not happy with the 1-2 shift, hopefully if I can get my hands on an SSK and it will help improve the feel.

I haven't heard from Ron either

At least everyone else has gotten invoices, and many (if not all) have already paid. Since they're a legit business, I'm sure they'll come through. Will just have to be patient.
