What is coming out of the hood and hatch on the model?

Those are the posts that hold the shell in place. At the time I hadn't snipped them down to size yet. What's great about the R/C cars is that the chassis can accept different shells. So if you feel like a different car one day then you just swap shells.

Here's my other shell for the chassis...
