Z4 M Skid Plates

I have called RPI and talked to them regarding the skid plates, they told me that they were machined for the Z4 M Coupe.

Will they fit on a 2007 Z4 M Roadster, I have called BMW parts and they have been unable to tell me if the coupe and Roadster use the same front bumpers.

Thanks in advance for any responses.

I always thought the bumper on the M coupe and roadster were the same? I think they should work, you can go to http://www.realoem.com/bmw/select.do and verify that the part numbers are the same.

I have checked this before, the bumpers themselves have different part #'s, why? dunno?

Thanks for the information.

OEM has them as different part numbers but are they the same bumper? I want to make sure all the bolt holes will align with the skid plated.

Take a look at these pics from my M Coupe and see what you think, do you have two screws in the same place for mounting the skid plate:

i have a Roadster and ordered the plates and they just arrived. I will install them today after work and let you know if it works or not.

I have already slightly scuffed up the fangs (DOH!) anything i can do to repair the damage? I hate having nice things sometimes, makes it so sad when you mess them up.

I couldn't agree more. That's why I was actually happy when i got my first noticeable scratch on my Z4 and 5er (well, noticeable to me at least ). After that, I became a lot less paranoid.

yep, like i said in another post. with cars, its more about the overal then the specifics. if you are going to cry over every little ding and scratch you get, you might as well not buy a nice car. going speeds of 60+ with small rocks and pebbles on the ground, there is no way to prevent damage. Having to park in parking lots with inconsiderate morons, there is no way to prevent damage.

I've calmed a lot over the years, as before I used to freak out over everything.

wrh3- thanks for the pics, I will check and see if the bolt holes look similar.

Black///M- Did they fit on your roadster? Depending on the damage the fangs can be repaired. My body shop is able to lightly sand down the area and paint before I put on the skid plates.

i had them... when i did scrap my fangs... these plates actually (IMO) made the situation worse.. the edge of the plate caught, and then caused the fangs to bend, and crazed the paint... if i hadn't had the RPI skid plate i know i would have scraped the underside of the spoiler... but it most likely would not have pulled and ruined the paint.... cost me over $700 to repaint... i took the plates off the next day and tossed them into the trash. i don;t recommend them.... obviously... just thought you should know.

This is exactly why I don't want the skid plates.

i actually did bring it up with RPI when i was ordering the scoop... i didn't want to be a jerk about it. but there was no real response to what i told them. i blame myself... i had concerns about the plates and their design, and did it anyway... but, thought it was only fair to share my experience with anyone considering them.

Much appreciated the share of information, I was going to order, but now that I see the up close picture, I would rather have those nuts/bolts flush as I can see those getting caught as well.

I ordered a set of these yesterday but plan to use a flat bolt, or possibly a recessed bolt so to lessen the likelihood of having the bolt snagged. If it works out, I'll shoot some pics up.
