Hi everyone. Bought a Z4 3.0i Titanium/black a couple of months ago. Love the car but I'm in New Hampshire...so it's in storage for the next 4-5 months. Also the owner of a 2014 X1.
Thanks for having me. |

Greetings from new Z4 owner
Just wanted to say hello to everyone. I had joined Z4-forum.com, very good, but I didn't realize it is mostly European owners, so I'm hoping I can find more USA owners here and associated topics.
Mid December I bought a used 2007 3.0i automatic, powered top, jet black Z4 with 65k miles in very good condition, to replace my wife's 2005 MX-5 Miata. She has a shoulder injury which makes it very hard to raise and lower the top, also we took a 2 week trip in her car in October and it just about killed us. Miatas are great car and a blast to drive, but they are not good touring cars for long distance, very uncomfortable and noisy on long trips. So, we are in the process of selling her car and we now have the Z4 and my 2001 Miata SE 6-speed British Racing Green with Nardi wood interior. So I can still have fun modding and driving mine and she is happy, and we can now take scenic trips in style while still enjoying going topless and having fun on the roads! The first thing I did, was to have it checked out, oil change, new wipers, etc. The front windshield had a big ding and road rash and the welting was almost completely gone. I'm sort of amazed at the bad quality of the Z4 rubber molding and plastics. So, I had them replace and was able to salvage the wiper cowling by cutting the cracking edging off and then sanding it down and re coating with preservatives. Here's a couple of photos: Last week I added a WindRestrictor. I'm still evaluating its effectiveness, but I like the look of it and the price was right, especially with the Christmas -15% sale they had going and the satisfaction guarantee. Also, moved the wife's personal plate over to the Z4 Apparently "Jet Black" is not well known, I think it looks great |

E85 Z4Si is a great car if you are looking for roadster travel, but there's not alot of creature comfort comparatively. It was great in the twisties and not to hard, or much, to maintain(FCAB's/RTABs/sway bar links) through 77k miles. I was impressed with the N52 with the 6 speed paddle shifted autobox. In sport mode it hung with my buddies Z4M for through about 2nd or 3rd depending. Frankly the Z4M wasnt that bad from a maintenance viewpoint. They both beat the Miatas & SLK's like the Aldo/McGregor fight; style & performance, no contest...they are the bomb in their category. Might buy another one as a daily driver. Right now that's an E30 Vert that I rebuilt inside and out. Probably keep the my beach boy retro-mobile for 1-2 more years. Only problem with a Z4 as a daily is it makes me drive stupid in rush hour traffic. Bad Juju. But I love cars that make me turn around and look at them one more time and cars that perform. The Z has both. I like convertibles. Wasnt so hip on a vert hardtop from a more things to go wrong perspective but it grew on me over time. The only thing else I liked in a soft top were the 2010/11 6 series (sport). Other choice were the 08-11 M3 verts. Everything else was too ugly, too much $, too many issues, or just too much power. In the end, IMHO this was the best value for money and the rational choice from a preventative maintenance perspective. Only risk I see is the Hardtop ballet act. Most other things (HPFP, DCT seem to have matured). Engine appears exciting, and the car is very poised under power. Traditional heavy BMW steering at speed. Through the first third of accelerator travel the car accelerates so smoothly you dont realize how fast it is until you look at the speedo and see 80 mph. Even in sport mode you need to apply half or more right foot to really notice how quick it accelerates. In the Z4Si/Z4M you treat the right foot with gentle respect, not so much in the 335is.

I'll see your 'mild chatter' and raise you some 'rambunctious discourse'.

Hello, don't have a Z4 but drive an e46 M3.
Came here to post a wtb thread but not allowed yet, guess I need to post more replies first While we are on the subject though, I am considering selling the coupe and getting an M roadster to enjoy the roads in SoCal a little more, haven't convinced myself to do it yet, maybe you all will push me over the edge. |

My bro owned an S2k and man did I love driving it, honestly enjoyed it more than the M but it had its short comings. I'm really crossing my fingers that the M roadster is an S2k plus everything I love about the e46.
