splitter/diffuser search....
Hey everyone,
I'm thinking of adding a front splitter/rear diffuser set to my 3.0si. I am however having some problems finding just the right thing and was hoping people here might have some ideas. First off, I have the BMW aero front bumper. I can't for the life of me find a splitter that's designed for that bumper, any thoughts? Even one that has been modified to work well would do the trick. As for the rear diffuser I would love to move to a dual exhaust set up but considering I'm not rocking an M I think the quad tip setup is a little overkill. What I was really looking for was something like one of these setups for the 3 series cars. Anyone ever heard of or seen such a thing? Thanks for the help. |

The rear diffuser on the white E92 in the bottom picture looks a lot like the diffuser that came stock on my wife's 335is Coupe. Badge says 335i but some 335i owners were liking the 335is diffuser and ordering the BMW part for their cars. This diffuser was one of the unique trim bits that came stock on the 335is, along with the black chrome exhaust tips, and the chrome/black chrome front grille.
Hope this helps.

I really wish we had more diffuser options. There's the group buy going on right now for the CF OEM Non-M style one but it's a bit pricey. More than the OEM one when it was available.

I've been searching all day for some sort of splitter that would fit the aero bumper too. So far no luck

I've looked for months with no luck. I'll be picking up some generic e46 carbon splitters and trying some custom work to see if they will look good. Just waiting to get my car back from the shop....

Do either of you have the dimensions for the arp splitter for the m coupe? Or I guess an apr splitter that wouldn't need modifications to fit width wise on a 3.0si. Still ends up flush with the side of my bumper. I don't mind doing some cutting under the car that's unnoticeable, don't want to cut a finished edge obviously
@wickedny what splitter is on your facelifted bumper? |

Something I made and installed on my sport suspension coupe. Had to remove when I went to lower (Eibach) springs as they were always dragging on my steep driveway. These were made from 1" thick ABS. Should be easy enough to do with the aero bumper.

Those look great! Could you give me some more details please? Did you just buy a sheet of 1" thick abs then cut and shape it? Where did you buy the abs? The problem with the aero bumper is that it's not flat on the bottom. There is a bit of a lip/edge that runs the length of the bumper. |

It's been a while since I've seen an aero bumper close up, what does it look like from the bottom? The standard facelift bumper is flat across the bottom and mates up easily to the extensions. I'll try to find an old set and post a pic.

When you get it back take a couple of pics from the underside and we can go from there. If the extensions are solid and flat across, you can duplicate the profile and simply extend them down further.

I think those extensions would look sick on the aero if it covered the ridge and went slightly lower. Ill have scrape issues no matter what goes on but def wanna give it a shot

Agreed! To be honest this whole search started for me so I could find something to protect my aero bumper once my car was lowered. I'd rather scrape up a splitter that can be replaced relatively cheaply then wreck the bumper. I get my car back Monday. I'll post pics of the underside then. Hopefully we can come up with something. I have a good feeling about this ABS option |

Please excuse the poor quality cell phone pic. 5/8" thick ABS contoured to match underside of facelift bumper. White spots around attachment holes are primer layer I used for markup purposes and finished with layer of black.
The extensions work great for protecting your bumper underside and can be varied in thickness for your ride height and road conditions. I currently have 1/4" thick pieces on mine due to a steep driveway. The nice thing about DIY is you can profile and size as you wish.
