Hi -C- (OP),

I need some help as to which part # to get for the vent hose (the connecting lines to the oil seperator).

"there is the upper one that is mounted directly behind the valve cover, it is wrapped in foam"
Is this the one (see below 1st pic with the red arrow / #3 of the diagram) ??

" it sits behind the intake manifold and is basically imposable to get to until you un-mount the manifold"
Is this the one with the two lines? see 2nd pic from ECStuning

Do they both break easy or just the one behind the manifold?

thanks

Hey their yea the foam ones do break easily, replaced both of mine. Heat and oil makes the plastic brittle.

As far as the dual pipe in your last pic, those are the ones that attach to the oil separator and your manifold. The foam ones come with the foam already wrapped and a single wire lead to plug it in.

Do you still need the part number for the foamed tube ?

i have the part #s..thanks for confirming

For others doing the swap
the two pipes are the "connecting line" 11157522931 (#3 on above pic) and also the "returning pipe" 11157567802 (#4 on above pic)
These two pipes are approx. $100 for both...so add this to your budget

Awsome thread !
I would love to see something like this for the 2.5i / 2.5si since it's the same identical m52b25 engine
2.5i (177HP) and 2.5si (218HP)

Thanks I was able to find that

All though I spelled out the wrong engine there
what the z4 2.5 has is a M54B25

And I don't think there is a higher powered variation of it unfortunately.

325i manifold mod

New to site so please excuse the question if it has been asked already.
I am picking up my car (06 325ixt) on Monday and have been reading as many of the post about the manifold swap as I can find to get as much clarity as possible. The info is spread all over this site so I have been copying it all so I have as much detail as possible when I do this mod. The question is about the software flash. Is there a location in the SF bay area to get this done and are there any members who have done this already.
Thanks for any help

Hey guys and gals!
I'm in the process of installing the 3.0si intake manifold on my 3.0i 08 Z4. Can an ECU from a si buggy that matches tranny, options etc be used instead of flashing my current ECU?
This may be a dumb question, but I thought it might be worth a go.
Thanks..

Replacing ecu will not work otherwise ppl will already be doing that.
Flashing ecu is just a tune and not really flashing the ecu for the manifold

hey guys! sorry as I've been so busy I had to stop the process of making the conversion, also money was tight as im going through this one on my own dime.

we were in-fact working on taking the ECU from an SI and mapping code over to my "I" and we were making traction, last dyno I pulled I had an increase of over 25 lbs of torque getting very close to the SI torque spec I had shot for, now its very possible having the M exhaust on my car had effected back pressure and could have hurt my torque level.

the car has been running on the modified "I" to "SI" map for almost a year now with 0 issues and also passed my emissions test.

so its actually very possible.

the way we are making it happen is basically taking the SI ecu and erasing the vin code and replacing it with our vin code much like an engine swap.

the car feels sooooooo much stronger now but further testing is needed.

once I get some time I will start it up again this summer.

the manual cars will have no issue the biggest issue is with the trans of the automatics, their is a slight difference is code for the TCM and that's kind of where we stopped. once we splice that we will be pretty good shape.

sorry not a business man just an enthusiast!

also their are other tunes from AA and Turner that take advantage of the new intake and such, the way I was running it was to have OEM tuning as ive had some bad luck with aftermarket ECU tuning causing some nasty things to my engine on older cars ive had in the past.

I was just traveling down path B, I would recommend AA for their tune if you have the manifold and such as from what I remember they had very good gains

Thanks Captain for all of your efforts to be creative and keeping us in the loop.
My manifold arrives today and I live an hour North of Turner and have contacted them to get the stage ll mapping; or whatever the most recent formular is from AA.

Beautiful car/sleeper.

Keep the shinny side up

15Nm for both the screw at the end and the manifold nuts.

Thank you! Manifold installed, it runs fine with no lights and scheduling an appointment with Turner...
