Recaro Profi XL
Has anyone successfully installed these? If not, I'll go through the measuring process. I'm curious to see if they fit without rubbing.

while i am remembering the install, here are some bits of info...
-if you do not use the oem receptacle and plug it in, you will not get auto up down windows -as much as possible, mount the seat as CLOSE to the center section of the car (towards the transmission tunnel, so to speak) -using a slider (for me) was almost useless cause i have no back seat, but you can still buy mine ! -i recommend buying these: http://store.vacmotorsports.com/vac-...px?Thread=True to use to mount your stock seat belt receptaclce (if you use it) and also the bottom seat belt bolt thing (if you know what i mean) |

Thanks for all the replies! I'll PM F360. According to Recaro's website, the width is the same for both the standard model and XL. The install tips were especially helpful.

Please let me know what you find because I'm looking at installing the XLs as well. FYI, at the shoulder they are supposed to be the same width as the non-xl but they are wider than the Pole Positions (580 vs 560mm). I measured for the width assuming the same center as my stock seats and it is close. It definitely will depend on the seat height and where the shoulder bolsters are in relation to the door panel....

It will be a while before I get around to the seats. I still have headers and a set of mufflers to buy for my 3.0i before I get around to putting in the seats. I'm considering the Sportster CS as well, since this car will be primarily street-driven. My stock seats have 115k miles on them and the lateral support of high school gym bleachers.

I've got the Profi XL in my Z3. It requires a fair amount of work and slight seat tilt using washers on the outside rail to get the shoulder wings to fit without denting the door card. Great seat by the way -- much nicer than the Pole Position which I have on the passenger side. Both have been recovered in leather.

Did your vendor cover them in leather, or did you get them done at an independent shop? I'm glad to hear they are better than the Pole Positions. I sat in a Pole Position at Bimmerfest, and I was definitely too tall/large.

The Profi XL will fit in our cars. I have a set and didn't have to modify the seat at all to make it fit. I am running the Recaro side mounts with the VAC floor mounts. The only modifcation I had to perform was to enlarge one of the mounting holes on the side mounts which took all of 30seconds. I am also running the stock 3pt seat belt.

I had them recovered at a local upholstery shop as the side bolsters were getting a little thin. I haven't taken pics yet but will endeavor to get that done and posted here as some on Bimmerforums have asked for the same. Ironically, most of the pics of my car are by competitors.

Light is currently on but I was able to turn it off with a piece of electrical tape. I have been in contact with people that know the airbag systems better than anybody and currently the only solution we have come to is to get an OC3 mat. The SRS system in the Z4 is a very unique system and difficult to trick. I have sliders but don't run them. I want the seat mounted as low as possible and since nobody drives the but me and my brother from time to time having a fixed mount is perfect. My butt cheeks are literally less and an inch off the deck.
