Z4 M Evolve-R Group Buy

This group buy is officially CLOSED, thanks to everyone that signed up.

And it's finally here! This is the home tuning solution from Evolve.

You plug in the cable to the USB port of your Windows PC*, connect it to your car, download the ECU and email it to evolve. A few days later they email you your new tune, you install and enjoy!

*You can use a mac as long as you have Boot Camp, Fusion or Parallels.

Here's the info on the group buy:

Quote:
Evolve-R for Z4M is now officially available. I can give 10% discount for group buy. RRP is $799 so group buy price is $719. This is for 5 and above confirmed orders. If we reach 10 it will be 15% discount which will be $679.

Awesome, can't wait!

Shouldn't this thread be in the classifieds section?

@marinb: Ah I didn't think of that, can a mod can move it over to the classifieds section please? Thanks.

@trialskid: I didn't used to think so, but you will get more torque throughout the power band, and it will feel smoother than stock. For bigger/more noticeable gains you'd want free flowing headers (euro or otherwise). So really it's up to you.

The test car was just to make sure the Evolve-R solution worked. The tune is the same one that they've been working on for a long time, see here for details, notice it's at version 3.0. It's just that you used to have to take your car to VS Motorsport or to Evolve directly to get it (or ship the ECU). Now you can do it at home

Edit: Just noticed that page doesn't have a dyno. I asked evolve to see if they have any before/after dynos they can send over.

I am in. Add me to the list.

I'm curious if they let you purchase different tunes as your mods change. For example, I don't have headers yet, but I likely will in the next year. Does anyone know?

It usually $100 to redo the tune for specific mods.

I started a new Dyno Day thread on NorCal section. My intention is to have it after we all get our Evolve tune. It will be great to compare some numbers between mods.

this will overwrite an existing tune then? i have a custom tune done from a reputed tuner who specialized in the s54 e46 application. i gave him my car and he did great work, but i feel like there's more untapped power given my mods. i should be a little over 300whp with afe intake/fabspeed headers/RE x-pipe/arqray cans...no?

i'm willing to dish out a 10+ groupbuy price to see what evolve has up their sleeve. if it's not for me, then i can always have the tuner re install the software he has saved for my car.

i'm in for 10+

Recommended that you reflash your car back to stock before doing the initial read for Evolve. It will take Sal@Evolve many more hours of work if you send him a file that is already tuned as he has to go thru the lines of code manually to see what your other tuner has changed in the file from OEM.

Any local BMW dealership should be able to do it. Any independent BMW shop with access to Autologic machine can also do it.

Yes, just make sure to specify to Sal@Evolve a detailed list of mods and options which include but are not limited to

- SES light delete for catless exhaust setup
- Alpha N tuning program (may not be ready/released yet, effectively deletes use of MAFs)
- Top speed limit removal
- Remapped throttle response
- 91/93 US OCT fuel optimization

Are you 100% that he can remove the SES light for cat delete? if so i may be in. Its just so many have promised this and not delivered so im a little skeptical...

Just to share my input on a few things.

The Evolve-R PC software works with Windows7 with both Boot Camp and Parallels. I have run both setups, Boot Camp and Parallels, as well as both, 32bit and 64bit.

I think more realistic gains would be +15-20hp and +10-15tq. Evolve has shown tons of consistent dynos of tuning on otherwise stock E46 M3 (S54B32 but with MSS54 DME). They have consistently gotten solid gains, with some that have shown some very stronger than average bumps in power.

This tune is more than just power and torque. It's about the driving experience. Throttle response and feel is so much more linear. The car just starts up, idles, and drives smoother. If you can resist the constant temptation, you actually may see improved fuel consumption.

**These are impressions based off my tunes with my E46 M3. Same engine, different DME**

I personally think that it is definitely worth getting. You will get power near the levels of getting headers, but this way, your car won't stink!!

Honestly, I think realistic gains are much less than that. I think peak gains of +15-20hp and +10-15tq are more realistic. I know there were advertised gains like that in the past, but I think that may have been do to mistranslation or typos.

I could very well be wrong though.

Yes, they can definitely quickly send you new tunes. It costs $150.

They can do more than just turn off the CEL. If you are 100% catless, they can turn off all CELs while keeping your sensors in ready state. That means you won't pull any error codes, no DTCs, no lights.

If you run high flow cats, they can dumb down the sensitivity of the post-cat O2 sensors so again, you don't pull any codes, no DTCs, no lights.

Finally, if you guys ever have any questions or want to know about my experience with Evolve, please feel free to PM me.

Everyone signup! Some of the best in the industry such as VS Motorsports and SonicMS became the first US dealers for Evolve for a reason. On top of that, there is a very good reason why Evolve has been tuning tons of cars all over the world, on almost every continent.

Beta has asked me to provide some dyno graphs.

Here is a UK specification Z4M (Has Euro Headers as stock) running equivalent US 93 Octane. No other modifications.

Please ignore the overall figures as this on our Dyno Dynamics which reads lower than what you are used to seeing on Dyno Jets.

It is the delta that is important.

Here is a US Z4M with CSL headers, Exhaust and 100 octane fuel. Car was previously tuned by another unknown company. So the baseline is already tuned.

I am not sure where some of the gains mentioned in this thread have come from! Must be a typo somewhere!

Realistic gains as can be seen on the dyno graphs is 14-17 WHP and 8-10 WTRQ. This only tells the story on WOT. Read our many reviews on the S54 engine to see how customers like the improved drivability with out tunes.

As FlipM3 has pointed out we can definitely remove CEL for cat delete/sport cats.

We have not developed AlphaN programming for the Z4M yet.

If you buy the tune now and need update later to account for a modification the cost would be $150.

Here is a picture of the Evolve-R in action on a Z4M.
