Flickering LCI tail light
So I've got the flickering LCI tail light problem now and my car is 2 days out of warranty. Dealer won't fix it or give me a grace period so I've got to do something about it myself.
I'm wondering if all I have to do is replace the LED circuit board with a new one? I went online and found this: http://realoem.com/bmw/showparts.do?...74&hg=63&fg=20 I was wondering if part number 1 is the light (or circuit board) that needs to be replaced. I looked up some other threads but am not sure if one can simply take out the old circuit board and put a new one in. Does anyone have experience with swapping these out? Thanks, DD |

there is a service bulletin and not limited to any country. My right light does this too. I have seen a diy where it is fixed with re touching soldering points. Under the service bulletin in the US they are supposed to change both lights.

Yep, I had my drivers side lamp go out in the second month I owned my car (bought new) and the dealer tried to tell me bulbs weren't covered in warranty. I raised hell with my salesman who knew about the bulletin, they ended up replacing my entire housing, I later found out they fired the SA for being a total idiot.

This is a very common problem on e90 LCI tail lights...
As someone said, the problem is that the solders are very poor... so you have two options: 1- Change the tail light 2- Open it and re solder the leds. You can find here a good DIY: http://www.bmwfaq.com/f151/reparacio...ci-e90-658379/ It is in spanish but I thing the images are enough for understanding how to fix it. Kind regards!
