Ebay Clutch Stop

I wanted to share this with everyone who is thinking about putting in a clutch stop. I was going to purchase the UUC clutch stop or the one on Leather Z, both listed at $20.00. While the price didn't bother me, the shipping was going to be $12.00 There is something about paying almost as much for shipping as you pay for the part, that I have a problem with.

So I decided to look around on ebay to see if I could find a uuc sans shipping. I didn't find one but did find this: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...ht_3364wt_1167

Seeing as how it was a whole $10.00 I decided to give it a try. (It's basically the DIY version) It works perfectly, and my clutch engagement was such that I didn't have to change the engagement sensor. This along with the CDV delete makes shifting so much easier and pleasant.

If you are cheap like me, looking to replace your clutch stop, and hate to pay a crap load in shipping (relative to the cost of the part) I recommend trying this out.

Free shipping and he got it in the mail the next day. I think I got it in 2 days, though he is in San Jose and I'm in Oakland.

actually I have it pulled ~1/2 or 3/4 out, and still no prob. It's about 3 in past the clutch engagement point (travel wise).

I have this exact same one off of Ebay. Works perfect. Didn't have to go to the hardware store and piece things together. This is the correct metric size.

I bought a UUC clutch stop and I was going to cut the threaded bolt itself because I thought it was too long. I wonder if the problem is that the padded piece itself is just too thick. I'm thinking about ordering this, but want to make sure that I can't just cut my UUC threads off and be able to screw it in all the way....any one have experience with the UUC one?

What is the problem you are having with the uuc? Is it that that the engine won't turn over or because the clutch wont engage?

I don't have experience with the uuc, but Mfanatic325 does you could PM him. I do know the UUC is way thick, and the ebay one is slimmer. I'm not sure if cutting the threads will be any different than screwing it in all the way... Did you try installing without the nut and washer?

Hmmm

Mine if I screw it out anyway I can't turn the car over because the clutch won't pass the engagement point

There is a magnetic switch that has to engage before the car will turn over or before you can use the cruise control. Depending on how far out your clutch stop is positioned it may not engage and thus the car may not turn over. You can easily move the magnetic switch so it will work. In this link they talk about moving the switch: http://www.zpost.com/forums/showthre...ht=clutch+stop

Ok. I knew about the switch...didn't know you could move it that easily.

Thanks

Clutch Stop wouldn't cause cruise control to stop working...

Mine works fine without issue, but can't guarantee it will work for you.

Everyone's car is a bit different regarding how near or far the magnetic switch can be triggered. I've got my clutch stop set about 1 3/8" off the floorboard and it works without modification. For reference, OEM is about 3/8" thick (off the floorboard.)

Regarding CC. I didn't test, but my understanding is that if your car turns over the CC will work. It's raining here, and going to rain for the next 10 days. But if there is a break in the weather and I can get the car out I will and report back.

The 'Big Boy' one from UUC needs to be cut down, yes. Then the switch gets realigned and ur done. Works great, and as the name implies... It's beefy. More so than the rest. I like mine

Stupid question, do you keep screwing it until you find a distance that works? And what is the nut/washer for?

Yes, you screw it in as far as it goes, test it. If it isnt better, add the washer and nut, then raise the clutch stop by unscrewing it. Once you,ve found the perfect height, you move the nut down towards the floor so that the clutch stop is now locked in position.

As for the UUC, did you cut half the threads off? Im just curious if the UUC stop is just too beefy?

I screwed mine in until it stoped then locked it down with the nut. That in itself was a huge improvement. Works so nicely that I haven't adjusted it since. I can feel that there is room to adjust it some more, but I haven't bothered.
