went to the 1/8 mile strip. stock 335i
for those of you who care i went up to the 1/8 mile strip today- countyline dragway in miami- with a few members from here. i got seven runs in. i have an e90 335i with sports package and AT. i only tried shifting myself for the first run. all of my best times were with traction control off and letting the car shift for me , launching at 1500rpms. here they are
best reaction: .766 best 60ft: 2.108 best MPH: 81.2 best ET: 8.858 i don't know what to compare these to, but it was pretty sweet, i had fun. i won all 7 races. i can't wait to go back once i have more power... |

Thats a good time on stock tires.
Also you trapped exactly what I traped when I was stock. You should beable to knock it down with better traction / 60 ft. When I was stock I could never break 2.3 60 ft's. Just no traction, even if I did a burn out to get the tire ( Ya you heard that right... tire as in 1) sticky hahah.

I am still new to launching a AT.... When you say you launched at 1500rpm.... I am guessing you held the brake and allowed the engine to rev to 1500 then let off the brake....??? sorry if this is very simplistic..... I just always heard this is bad for the tranny

I find the best times are achieved when I put the trans selector to the left in DS, let it shift by itself, one touch on the traction control button, and slight power brake to about 1500RPM at launch, and ease into the throttle as traction allows. Here are my results at sea level, cool weather. I can repeat these results pretty consistantly. And this is low mileage car, 91 octane, stock tires.

I guess that I am going to have to break down and buy one too. I prefer to not be wasteful and I know that I wouldn't use it much, but man, what a gadget |
