Charge cable for 11kW charging
Hi
Am I right in thinking that if I want to get 11kW from an AC charger (public), I need to use a 3-phase cable (like that car came with) and not a 1-phase cable? |

Hello,
Disclaimer, I'm not a qualified electrician, so these are just my opinions rather than facts. Always use/consult a qualified electrician. As far as I'm aware, if you want to get 11Kw from an AC charger (domestic or public), the charger must be installed on a three phase supply. To get the electricity at 11Kw AC into the iX3 at that amount, it will be necessary to use a cable that is capable of carrying 11Kw at three phase. Many thanks, |

Thanks, I’ll make sure I put my OEM BMW cable in the car.
The chargers in question are 22kW street ones, so while the iX3 can’t handle 22kW, it will take 11kW, providing I use the right cable. |
